Angry Shavings in food... Eww!

Lately, my pig has been kicking shavings into his food. Unfortunatley, when he kicks in shavings poop and urine covered shavings go in it. I think that this is just plain out disgusting! Do other pigs do this, or is it just mine? What are some things I can do? If this helps, I am not changing bedding types. Also, he does not eat the shavings, and I usually spend a few minutes every day, taking the shavings out of his bowl!

Re: Shavings in food... Eww!

My pigs used to I just dumped out the whole bowl and refilled it. My pigs are on fleece with litter boxes so its almost impossible for them to get bedding in the bowl now. Although they do tend to dump all the pellets out of the bowl. Maybe you could try an elevated bowl or fleece.

Re: Shavings in food... Eww!

I am probably no going to switch to fleece but is it possible to get a heavier bowl such as a ceramic one to weigh it down, because he dumps it as well.

I don't think elevating it would really help because it happens when he does mad laps.

Re: Shavings in food... Eww!

I have fleece and even using it, my boys manage to get lots of poops in their food bowls. I don't want to even think about how they get it in there. They probably make it a game between themselves, whoever gets the most poops in the food gets the extra lettuce!
