Would it be ok to use a plastic milk jug for a hidey house? Also do they need a second hidey? We just got two girls about 6 months old i think that share a large pigloo. Would they use both or rather be together? |

I wouldn't use the plastic milk jugs for a house. The edges where it's cut may be too rough. You can get things at dollar stores for a buck that are better to use. They really each need their own hidey spot, that way if they need to get away from each other they have a place to go. |

Can you get a cardboard box, such as the small ones that cans of vegetables come in? Ask at the grocery store. Soda can cases with an opening cut in are a good size, too. These fit in CandC cages, and if they get peed on or otherwise messed up, it's no big deal to throw them out and get new ones. I would worry about the soft milk jug being chewed. They might swallow shards of the plastic, which could cause problems. |

I was kinda iffy on the edges of the milk jug to begin with and we just put a cardboard box in there for now. There is a picture of our cage in the open cages gallery and we'd love some comments and suggestion on what might make our new piggies more happy. |

Your cage looks really good. I would definitely get another pigloo or hidey house. I have a square one and for some reason my boys love that one the best. I also have one that's a child's foot step with a fleece blanket draped over it like a little cave, they love that one too. I think I read somewhere on this site that recommends having one more hidey house than pigs. So for 2 pigs, have at least 3 hidey houses. |

Your cage looks very nice. It is very roomy, and I love the steps in and out of the litter pan. As for things your piggies may like... My piggies love paper bags. If they are small enough to fit you could get a pack of paper lunch bags, otherwise a paper grocery bag is loads of fun! Either one usually only lasts a day or two because they pee in them. I usually stuff a paper lunch bag full of hay and they love to play in it and eat the hay. I made some tunnels out of cardboard. Just get some cardboard and fold it into a triangle and tape the top seam of it so it will stay closed. A box of shredded paper is always a blast for my piggies! I use most of these ideas during floor time, but in a cage they would be fun as well! |
