Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 I've been looking at different ferret, rabbit, bird, cat and even *gasp!* guinea pig toys to try and find some new toys, hideys, etc. for my boy (hopefully soon to be plural), but I'm afraid of getting something too small, generally boring to cavies, unsafe and so on. So my fellow cavy lovers, what do your piggies fancy most? Please supply pictures of the items and/or descriptions, and potential places of purchase! |

My pigs like their igloo mostly. They don't use their pvc pipes as much as they used to, but Jackson loves his pvc pipe. I put a T pipe in his cage and he is always sleeping in it. |

My boys really like towel tents (or blankie tents), really simple. Just drape a towel or blanket over the side of the cage to make a tunnel or tent like thing, I also bunch up some of the towel or blanket underneath it to make it softer to lay in. Here is a pic with a towel tent on the side if you don't know what I'm talking about. http://www.guineapigcages.com/photos...php?photo=3483 They also like lil toys; these are some ones thye have: ![]() My boys like boxes stuffed with hay: ![]() And they also like this...its from Walmart, in the cat section only $3.88! ![]() |

Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Thank you both for the input! Hoping for more to come... Hint! I'll add my pigger's favorites, too (thus far). He has a hay rack that hangs overhead his litterbox (I have a picture in my gallery, though it wasn't fully furnished at the time, it's the only place without fleece) and he loves to sleep under it, wake up and eat some hay and then snuggle up underneath again! He LOVES the toilet paper rolls, and jingly balls (I got this neat one that has hay on the outside!). He also loves this wooden hidey I bought and tucked a spare piece of fleece inside that he burrows into. I'll try to post pigtures of that later. Last edited by SerpentineSylph; 02-16-08 at 09:04 am. Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 My pig has so many toys that he has gone through over his four years, I dont know where to start!! - Paper Towel/Toilet Papre rolls with hay (Cut down the middle so they dont get stuck) -PVC tubes -Pigloos (His all time favorite toy!) -Hidey houses (I got mine for $3.00!) -Paper bags with hay -Tennis balls -Ping-pong balls -Towel Tents -Fill a hay rack with treats and it keeps them occupied for hours! -Cardboard Boxes I have recently been putting veggies in the spaces between the bars on his cage and he loves it! Also, see he TOYS & PLAY page on the main part of this site! I got so many ideas from here! Pigs dont necessarily need lots of toys to be happy! They want your love and attention! (And hay and veggies, lots of veggies!) ***As the main page says, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, EVER, use exercise wheels or balls! They can cause seroius damage to your pigs spine!*** |

I forgot to add: Guinea Pig Toys and Play *I also used a cat toy on a string for floor time and he loves chasing it! (Dont let him get it ! I give him a little bit of carrot so that way he does not give up on it so quickly!) |

Many pigs enjoy a hidey house. I personally do not like pigloos, but prefer tents or houses where 3 of the sides are open. Give the girls some pigloos and they will fight over them and be very unsocial. When shopping for pig toys, avoid things that are wood (urine and wood dont go together). The little kid plastic seats make excellent houses. Stuffed toys are fantastic - although be wary as they may chew it. Cuddle cups are a fantastic hit in my house hold, as is their lazy lounge pictured here: ![]() The girls also loved their stuffed dog bone which I picked up for $2: ![]() Paper bags either scrunched up into a ball (Rosie in particular head butts them along), or filled with hay keep them occupied for ages. My girls went crazy when I filled up their play pen with shredded newspaper. Really simple things. You have to stop and think before getting a toy - are they going to use it? Some pigs enjoy bird toys such as bells or mirrors. Some are kept entertained with a big pile of hay. Avoid exercise balls, wheels, leashes and harnesses. |

The picture above of the cat tent that is square with circle cut outs is one of my boy's favorite toys. I have one that is tent shaped that crinkles when they walk on it and they have 2 square ones that are attached together so they can jump from one to the other. They love them so much. Mine also love the large paper grocery sacks. Two or three of them will fight to get in there and play together. Any kind of cardboard box will amuse them as well |

My piggies absolute favorite toy is a box full of shredded paper! I use old cardboard boxes and shredded paper from our office shredder. Now that I have seen that cat toy box thing, I think I will get one of those and fill it with shredded paper. They will love it!!!! |

I love the photo gallery, but sometimes it's nice to just have word of mouth input/not have to sift through 20 pages of pigtures! |

My pig loves: ping pong balls his hammock (he sometimes sleeps under it, but mostly in it.) Newspaper tunnels A pile of hay on the second floor He also loves to fly up and down his ramp. That is usually what you find him doing. I guess he does not know what floor he wants to be on. |

Of course I meant just veggies. I would never put in "treats" as they can be fattening and they are not good for the piggers. |
