Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Hello. Is this a good idea? I want to get one, but at $20 each, I am not sure. Thank you. Carol |

No. Guinea pigs should not use balls, wheel or leashes. Their backs do not bend that way and they can get serious spinal injuries. |

No, do not use the exercize balls, wheels or harnesses. They can cause serious injury http://www.cavycages.com/forum/showp...25&postcount=5 |

If you do decide to buy some toys for them, I found that Percy likes playing with the little cat ball toys that have a bell inside. I think he knows when I'm dozing off because he'll pick up his bell ball and shake it. |

Spazzie loves those bell balls, too. |

Mine have completely ignored cat toys so far (I keep buying different ones in hope). They do like crumpled up balls of paper, paper bags, teddy bears, paper towel rolls/tp rolls filled with hay, and their favorite is a wind chime hanging from the floor of their second level (just make sure that they can't bite off and swallow any of the pieces.) Other good idea for toys are on this page: http://www.cavycages.com/toys.htm |

Mt girls' (and boy's) favorite is one of those small dollar store wind chimes. I hung it low so it nearly touches the floor of the cage and they play with it all the time. Meg runs laps and popcorns into it on purpose, Daisy tugs on one of the chimes, Dilly and Gumbo nudge it and sometimes they will porposly back into it so their butts touch it then give a little twitch or popcorn. It's rather funny to see when Dilly, Daisy or Gumbo are playing with it and Meg comes along, running full spead to popcorn into the chime only to popcorn into or land on top of whoever is playing with it. That usualy starts a merry chase around the cage and the shaking of the pigs chasing each other sets that chime off as well. Just make sure that no part of the chime is small enough to swallow if they chew it apart, although mine have not yet chewed through the strings holding it together, it is something I needed to anticipate possibly happening when I bought it. |

I need a photo. Sounds cool. A wood or metal chime? |

If you want another hanging "toy" try filling a suet holder with hay and cilantro. Percy tries to pull stuff out to munch on it and ends up following it around as it spins. Poor boy has to take a nap when he's finished! |

I got the greatest thing. In walmart in the bird section of the pet dept. They have a mirror with a bell hanging from the bottom. Mine love it they are either looking at them selves or ringing it all the time. Mine was .89 cents what a deal |

Picture time. It measures about 8" long. No part is small enough to swallow if they pulled it apart. Surprisingly they have not chewed through the string. |

Off to the dollar store!!!!! My pigs love their beanie baby teddy and hamster. They are their favorite pillows. Maisey and Bell do not play much with ther cat toy balls but they love their oatmeal container tunnel and their paper towel roll stuffed with Timothy Hay. |

Oooh! If you have pigs that like mirrors, go to any auto parts store and pick up a replacement visor mirror with the clips on the back. The mirror is a full 6-8" wide and the clips slip perfectly over the wires of the cube grids. The two that I bought only cost me a total of about $6. Plus if you have boars, they look all manly, and your piggy can tell all his buds that he gets his toys at the car parts store. |

Trixie does the rumblestrut, rumblestrut, popcorn dance during floor time when he sees himself in the mirror. It's quite entertaining. |

Sadly mine have thus ignored their mirror. I hope some day they'll discover themselves in it. |
