Awesome toy idea! Very simple! Just take a film canester( little bottle that film comes in) poke some big enough holes all around it, fill it with favorite treats( timothy works well) then put the cap on. Thats it! It's that easy! It works really well with my pigs and there so selfish, they wont take turns playing with it. I think i'll make a second one! It's funny watching them trying to get to the treats inside. Well good luck, let me know how good it works for you.

Great idea! I modified your idea a little (since I don't have any film canisters right now). I took an empty toilet paper roll (too small for my full-grown guinea pig to get inside) and crumpled up some newspaper. I stuck some sliced carrots in the folds of the newspaper and then shoved it all inside the toilet paper roll. She can smell the carrots and it's driving her crazy trying to get them out. I can tell she'll be working on it for a while. Thanks for the idea!

How isnt plastic fine. They Chew up their pigloos and its safe. Also my Bowls are almost all plastic. The film canasters should be ok because they wont be able to take big chunks out of it.

So ALL plastic is safe? What about the funny film smell from the chemicals left in the canisters? I thought some types of plastic weren't safe because they splinter. Thanks for the answer though! =)

hey , im definately going to try that . Have you allso tried taking a plastic bag and filling it with fresh grass and closing it ? I releber that my two GP's where each pulling at one side of the bag , eventually ripping it open and then they ate the whole bag Instead of a filmroll (plastic) i would use something wooden , carving a hole in it and out the treats there , it would help exercise the chewing muscles of the Gp and allso keeps his teeth short

What would make you let your pigs have a plastic bag? Don't you think that they would choke or suffocate from the plastic? Not a great idea!

Plastic bags are just a poor way of thinking of ways to give your cavy things to do.You dont give children bags to play with do you .Even if there is holes they can still swallow it(even if YOURS SPITS IT OUT) and get stuck in their throat and still sufficate. Not a good idea:S

DO NOT give piggies a plastic bag!!!!!!! Did they eat the bag or spit it out???? Sorry I'm getting so upset, but I really don't think you're telling the truth. I hope that next time you'll think about your answers a little harder before writing them down. |
