    To seperate ot not......

So yesterday i did my introductions with my two new boys and Rusty and Munchie. Everything went well and they were put in there much bigger cage all together and still everything went fine all evening. However i am not sure what transpired through the course of the night, but this morning one of the new piggies has a cut on his nose. At this point should i be seperating the new guinea pigs again from Rusty and Munchie??? However because i did not see what happened i don't even know who did it???? Do i remove them from Rusty and Munchie or not????????????

If blood is ever drawn, separate.

If one pig isn't eating and being bullied out of Hay, Pellets, Veggies, separate.

You would be doing the right thing. But don't separate both of them, just the one with the boo-boo.

Actually we got it sorted out, we put the two new ones in one part of the cage and my original GP's in a seperate part. So we just divided our 8x2 c&c cage with Grids and other material to visibly block them from the others and it seems everything is fine. So each pair has a 4x2 space.

Hi Coconutty78, Do you plan to keep them separated or will you try to mix them up again? I've been following what has been happening at Happy Cavy where they are trying to introduce a new female to a herd of three, and they have had to divide up the enclosure for the time being after blood was shed. I think they will try again but will allow the girls to live this way for awhile longer before they do. Best of luck to you. I'll be doing this myself in a few weeks so very interested in how it all goes.

I actually plan on keeping them seperate they seem right back to normal since i have done so and i think its best for all of them. It seemed very stressful yesterday and even though in a prefect world i would love for them to all just get a long i realize they all have different personalities. Just like people would we really want to be in a confine space with someone we can't stand? probably not. So all is well and they all still have plenty of space, lots of love and both sides look the same no one has better than the other. I hope you intro's go better. I have heard its much easier with sows than boars and you at least have the comfort of not having to deal with a mess of boar glue like i did. Best of luck with your girls.
