NEUTERED guinea pig with testicles? :S

that's a good point, I've noticed that the lump isn't always present though, it's realy strange. Lately it has been prominent, but before it wasn't always visible. Either way, this little piggie is going back to the vet.
Do you think if I bring them both out together for lap time that would be okay? They want to be together so badly, and I will watch them closely.

Could it be possible the pig had testicles that hadn't yet "dropped"?
I think that if it is a testicle the rescue should be responsible for the pups getting homes AND receive an investigation from animal welfare services.

I find it very fishy that they put the guinea pigs in such a dirty cage to even present them to a potential home!

I would want to keep the pups though. I don't want anymore guinea pigs going to the rescue when I can care for them just fine. That's what I was thinking too. Although he is a year old. In the first picture the potential abscess/testicle was covered by fur.

Yeah, that totally makes me think it could more likely be an abecess.

yeah, I'm starting to think that too. And on his left side it's still pink and part of the lump under his fur, or it was anyways.
The poor pigs are just laying around in there seperate cages.

I would. You just can't be too careful right now.

that's true. I'm giving them lap time together though, they just lay down beside each other while I pet them. I assume that's okay? Earlier they both fell asleep on my lap together.

not yet, this is quite possibly the worst week this could happen. We're going away next week, and everything has been so busy I'm going to call and see if the vet is open tomorrow, and I will find a way to get there. This is such bad timing, which I know is no excuse, but it really doesn't help when neither one of my parent's seems to be home, and my dad doesn't know whats going on because he would be very upset.

he hasn't gone in today, and next week we're on vacation. My mom promised me the day we get back we will bring him into the vet. I feel bad, I hope this isn't a dire vet emergency. He seems to be alright. Other then the fact that he misses izzy.

If it's an abscess, it can become a dire emergency with little to no advance warning. Who will be taking care of the pigs when you're on vacation?

my neighbour will be, she loves the pigs and knows how to care for them. I'm leaving her lots of instructions, my veggie menu etc. I have no doubt they will be in capable hands. She also has all the numbers incase something happens, in which case she can call me and reach me constantly.

just a side note, both my pigs seem to be chewing on the bare really badly, trying to get to each other. I can imagine that's very bad for there teeth, and they won't stop what can I do.

Well, it would be easy to determine if he's neutered or if he has an abscess if you'd just take him to the vet. If he is neutered, as you thought he was when you adopted him, they could be together and the problem would be solved.

In the meantime, you don't know so they need to be separated. You could try draping a blanket or towel over the grids so they don't chew on them, but otherwise, there isn't really anything you can do to keep them from chewing on the bars.

okay, I tried the blanket and he just poked his head under. I'm going to go to work with binder clips and fasten everything down so I can sleep tonight. I don't want them to hurt their teeth either. I do give them some time together for lap time, and today with floor time too. I don't take my eyes off them obviously. But a few hours together clearly isn't enough.

It isn't going to harm them to chew on the bars.
Whistles has done this all his life.
I'd only be worried if he started eating the coroplast. Like chewing and swallowing the pieces.

UPDATE
I took felix to the vet just now, we got back from our trip last night. The vet thinks he has developed a hernia, and we left him there to be ultrasounded. They're very busy, and want to squeeze him in today, so we left him there. I am confident he is in very good hands. Once we know for sure, we will discuss surgical options. Any advice?
