Careless Elvis is being a Jerk!

So, there WERE four boys, Peanut, Butter, Moe and Elvis in a 2 by 6 cage. They were getting along just fine - except Elvis is a little mean to Moe and Butter. Moe and Butter are pretty docile, so they just take it or wander away from him. Peanut, however, is a tough guy that doesn't take any crap from anyone.

They never fought anywhere to the point of blood, but one day we notice that Elvis' eye is all messed up. The top and bottom lids are torn, etc. He didn't seem to care, but we took him to the vet. They gave him some ointment for the eye, antibiotics, and patched it up. He's doing fine, and the eye is healing very well (it's been about 3 weeks since the "incident"). The vet said there is NO blindness - he's lucky.

Elvis has been separated from the others, but his cage is attached, so he can see them. We don't know how it happened, but I think he messed with Peanut and Peanut got tired of it and let him have it. Of course, I think Butter is glad that Elvis is blocked off now. We may put Moe in with him when he's fully healed, as Elvis and Moe have been together since babies.

Apparently Elvis just doesn't know when to quit when he's in with all of them. He is a little bully!

Men..... see how they act!

Re: Elvis is being a Jerk!

I have a piggie called Elvis and he is the most docile, loving guinea pig ever! Sounds like maybe they are maturing or he is just a plain old bully!

Re: Elvis is being a Jerk!

One of mine had an eye injury during introductions. It is a really scary thing. I hope Elvis recovers completely.

Re: Elvis is being a Jerk!

They are all in the 9-10 month old range. So, Elvis has likely hit somt puberty or something. His eye is healing VERY well, and is just about all healed up. I think we'll leave him separated and put Moe in with him. Originally they were two pairs - Moe and Elvis together since birth and Peanut and Butter together since birth. I think we'll go back to the original pairs.

Re: Elvis is being a Jerk!

Elvis sounds like my Simon- he would go over to Chubby and try to start a fight. Simon is almost a pound more than Chubby, and Simon would pick on him till one day - Chubby fought back and they both went crazy! I immediately seperated them- Chubby wasn't harmed but Simon had scratchs and was bleeding (not badly) from the fight he started. Heh, men.
