Talking Adopted cavy is happy! So relieved!

Oh joy! Cupcake was excited and happy last night!

I got her 11 days ago and she never popcorned or did a lot of wheeking. She is out of her cage usually in the daytime and has the run of a 10 x 12 room. Last night we hadn't had her out for a long run yet that day, and I put her in the room.

She popcorned, wheeked, and ran all over the place! And she was loud! I am so relieved!

Did it help that she was free when it started to get dark?

You'll find that their natural periods of activity are shortly after sunrise and again around sunset. Mine also have another period of craziness around 10pm some evenings with lots of chasing around the cage. Their individual patterns may vary, so don't take my comments as "gospel".

Aw, that's so cool! Doesn't it feel good to see that and know that your piggy is happy? Piggy popcorning is one of the best sights in the world, and I never get tired of wheeking.

When I got Amy, she was in a tiny pet store cage on shavings. Her new cage was also a pet store cage, but much, much bigger (my initial plan to put her and Borat together in a C&C was aborted because Bo was missexed and turned out to be a boy, so they each have their own cage till he's neutered). When I set up the cage and put in Carefresh and put her in, she went crazy with happineess, doing zoomies and popcorning like a mad pig. It made me feel so good to know she was happy here.

I know what you mean. I just got Jasmine and Tate on Monday, and yesterday I saw Tate popcorning when I replenished his hay!!!! I haven't heard either of them wheeking though. Jasmine made a sound like wheeking when my mom was trying to catch her, but I think it was because she was scared. Even though Jasmine is dominant (and always bosses Tate around) she is way more scared of people, so I haven't seen her popcorning.
