I had a blind gp. His name was Gus. He was given to me when the kids in 4-H were showing him and the judge discovered he was blind. He was a real sweetie. He was fine as long as I kept everything in his cage the same. (which I did). He was a special boy and I loved him very much.
Rodney is just adorable! So glad you took him in and he will now have a great forever home.

Thanks, Suzie! I think Rodney has a very small bit of vision, even though there's no light response. Or maybe he's just got VERY good perception, because he looks at me like he can see me when I'm close. But not when I'm more than 3ft or more away. So I guess he has a great nose and ears, which is great!

He's a cutie! I'm learning my girls bite, too. Not really hard, but those BIG teeth make me nervous. They could do some damage if they wanted to. I'm trying the sharp "Wheek" sound when they do bite, and so far, so good. I don't think they can really see what they are biting, with the way their eyes are positioned, so I think they nibble to see if its food in front of their mouths. Good luck with Rodney!

Thanks, Petlovr. I said "OW!" once and he stopped.
He seems to be doing very well as of late, seeing as I bribe him with veggies to sit on my lap. I think he bites sometimes because he is blind and doesn't know my hand from food at times.

I think so, too. I tried an experiment, and noticed I was nibbled on more at dinner time, I think because my hands/fingers smell like peppers...LOL

I just keep my fingers away...
