Hello - Advice needed x2 new baby guinea pigs, 'step dad' & mum all live :) together
Hello,
RE posting as think I posted in teh wrong place... :S

Hello,
I bought two Guinea pigs from a pet shop being told that they were both males but we actually had a male and a female. The male died due to a stroke but had in fact impregnated the female unbeknown to us so we had to separate the new male as the female gave birth to two boys(we think, they're 3 weeks old only). Before the birth they didn't seem to be that happy with each other and now we're not sure what to do as the male guinea pig does get on with the 3 week old guinea pigs but we've just noticed today that the babies are jumping on mums back and are aware that we need to separate mum from babies at 4 weeks so she does not get impregnated.
What would you advise is best now as we've had the male 'step dad' neutered. Can they live as a happy family if mum is spayed?
Thanks in advance!

Sorry I don't under stand your post. Is the "step dad" already neutered? How long has he been neutered? Male babies need to be separated at 3 weeks old. If you knew your female was pregnant, why did you get another male after the first one died?

If you have three males, you should not house them all with a single spayed female because they'll fight. You'd be better off housing the neutered male with her and the other two males separately. You don't need to spay her that way.

Thanks both for your speedy replies really appreciate it!
Thanks @ lissie Yes didn't intentionally get another male found out we had a female when she gave birth and we'd replaced the other male well before.
Thanks @ pinky. following your advice we've separated the baby guinea pigs.
