    Are "pig-kabobs" bad to have?

I just built a 10 cube C&C cage for my two boars. I am trying to make this space as enjoyable for them as possible and provide their food and forage in various ways to keep things interesting. One way I am providing fresh foods to them (aside from scattering forage daily) is by using a "pig-kabob" that hangs from the top of the cage. Essentially this is a shish-kabob for guinea pigs. They can reach the bottom veggies just fine but have to stand to get the top veggies. So here is where my question comes in, is this good exercise and entertainment for them or is this in some way bad for them?

I use the kabobs for my boy and I just put a few veggies on the kabob, keeping them kind of low as he has arthritis in his hips and ankles. He does enjoy the variety and doesn't have any issues with retrieving the veggies. If your piggies are on the young side, standing shouldn't be a problem. If they're older, perhaps a little something to climb up on would work for them.

If there's anything amiss about it I've never heard of it. I have a less formal "pig-kabob" for my guys - it's actually a bird toy with a bell on the bottom, and animal-safe wood cubes which slide up and down. I typically put their favorite stemmy treats in between the cubes (cilantro, occasional parsley) and they often sit right up like little gophers for them. It's had the side effect of getting them to have popcorn fits whenever they hear the bell go off - it started with me loading them up with treats, of course, but now they do it even when I'm cleaning the cage and bump the bell! This photo was taken in the intro phase when they were still getting used to it:

I've noticed that the orange pig in front (Cletus) seems to like getting his hay off the tippy-top of his hay rack too, and sitting up in general. I think he thinks it shows off his rock-hard abs, LOL.

I have one that we use too. They don't seem to eat a lot off of it though.

Agreed, I've never heard anything bad about them. A lot of people seem to use them actually. My piggy Hippie has one. Well actually his is a bird toy with a bell on it but it works the same.

On a side note: Blackarrow, loved the pictures you posted! That is so cute! I especially love the picture of him getting the hay. You're piggies are just way too adorable!
