hey all, its been a while.

I haven't posted recently so here are some updates and thoughts.
It seems that every time I stick my hand in the cage my piggies run to it expecting food. I swear if i let them they would eat till their bellies exploded. They really are silly little animals.
On a sadder note, about a day before I put Cleopatra and Blackberry in the same cage I noticed a tiny scratch on Cleopatra's nose. I figured it was just that scratch so i put peroxide on it. It healed but the fur didn't grow back and the fur continued to fall out in a circular fashion. The skin then became dry and scaly and today signs of scabs appeared. It seems to be a fungus, but it could also be a parasite. As im not sure I have an early appointment to the vet tommorow. Im devastated of course, as only a month ago she was sick with URI.
Im also perplexed as to where she could have gotten it from. They don't live outside, and I am very meticoulus with making sure that my hands and clothes are clean before i touch them.
Funny thing with Cleopatra and Blackberry is that while they constantly rumble at each other they get so sad when I take one of them out. They squeek and cry and sometimes the one im holding tries to get back in the cage. They are really silly little animals.

Definitely sounds like a fungal infection. Sometimes, it just happens. Try treating with Myconazole from the drug store. Apply twice a day. That always works for me with fungal infections.

What's Conofite? A topical or an oral drug? Is it prescription? I know that with the Myconazole, it's pretty much resolved within about 5 days.

Its a topical drug. Miconazole Nitrate. Conofite might be the brand, sorry. Today is the second day of treatment and the dryness and scaly skin is gone and the scratches are starting to heal up. The two pigs are seperated but I was wondering about other things too.
Should I clean the place where they play for floor time? and if so how well, the area is carpeted.
Will I have a problem reintroducing them again later?
How long after she heals should I wait to put them together?
Thanx

If it's a fungal infection and you are already treating it with results, I would not separate the pigs. It's not worth it. It's better to keep them together.

And Hi, Deandraspigs!

Cleopatra has been scratching her nose and new scabs have appeared. And the bald spot is getting bigger. Should I increase the amount of medication?
