Keeping Cool: Its too hot to function

We are barely half way through Spring and already our temperature is hitting 38C/100F in the afternoons.

I keep the curtains closed to keep the sun out and leave all the fans on. Aircon is not something "normal people" can afford in South Africa.

I found Gizzy laying on the kitchen floor tiles yesterday when I got home and promptly joined her! I also snipped her hair pretty short (she looks really weird).

Besides the shorter hair and cold tiles that she lays on is there anything else I can supply her with as we are heading towards an extreme summer with our hottest month still 3 months away.

I can't stand hot weather! Of course, I live in Wisconsin in the United States, right now it's 37*F, and I still see people walking around in shorts and t-shirts... but that's Wisconsin for you!

In the summer it can get hot here (well, at least I think it does, like in the 90's). Here is a link to a good thread that will give you a lot of ideas for keeping cool, I know that it'll be summer there soon, so keep cool!

Maybe get a cold wash cloth and let her walk on it. I couldn't imagine living in a hot climate. I live in Canada. So the winters are cold and the summers are HOT, but not as hot as South Africa!

If you have a freezer, freeze some bottles of water and lay them out for her to hang out by.
