Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 If we are able to adopt guinea pigs instead of purchasing them, what is the best way to get two at once? Do we need to find two that have already been living together? Also, how will their age affect how well they behave towards us? |

Your best bet will probably be to buy an already bonded pair. Most rescues or shelters should have at least a couple bonded pairs. |

Many people already have multiple guinea pigs up for adoption or re-homing. check rescues because they often will check to see how compatible a group of guinea pigs are before sending them home with you. Craig's list and other classifieds often have guineapigs in pairs or groups that need homes. Look around and you will find some that are already together. |

I got my three from a rescue, they had been living together for some time and were quite bonded. As a child, I got two from a friend of a friend who could no longer care for her pigs. When one passed, I adopted another but it had been missexed and I ended up with three. Personally, I would recommend that you adopt two that have already been together- then you know for sure how they will get along. |
