Trying to hide in my hair.

I have had my pigs for about a week now and I think they are starting to get a bit used to being held. Gizmo calms down quickly and just likes to sniff around but Gadget is a little more tense and tries very hard to climb up on my shoulder and into my hair. I wouldn't mind it but I have really long curly hair and she gets caught in it, which I think scares her a bit when I'm trying to pull her out. I'm wondering why she wants to get into my hair so badly. Is she just looking for a place to hide? Does anyone else's pigs do this?

My avatar pic is Gadget climbing onto my husband's shoulder but he doesn't really have much hair to hide in, .

Re: Trying to hide in my hair.

All four of mine did this when I first started working with them. I find it really really helps to have a towel you can wrap them in or fold around them so they can feel secure and you can put your hands into the towel and pet them so they get used to your smell and talk to them so they know your voice. Over time they will calm down.

Re: Trying to hide in my hair.

My Gizzy used to do this all the time (I also have long curly unmanageable hair). She is much calmer with me now but if we are sitting together and she hears a loud noise she will run straight to my hair. I have found like Shaunamuse also said that if you give them something to "hide" in then they are much calmer.

Thanks, that's a good idea. I'll try that next lap time.
