I was holding Hammie while I was playing piano and whenever I played a note he purred like he LOVED it!

Now whenever I go to practice for a little I bring out Hammie so he can enjoy. I then tried to let him listen to piano music on the computer but he didn't budge. It only seems like he likes it when I play piano.

So do your piggie like music?

My pigs love Einaudi. If they're getting stroppy and snappy with each other I just play some on my laptop and within minutes they're chillaxing in the middle of the cage, little legs stretched right out.

My guinea pig cage is right next to my piano and they love when I practice. It is actually proven (I can't name a specific study tho) that guinea pigs do enjoy music! It soothes them. My guinea pigs have free run in my living room, when the TV is off and it is compley silent they just stand there on guard but when I turn the TV on they run around and expore. I don't think guineas like sense! At least mine don't

My guinea pig HATES the music I listen to. If I have the radio on during lap time, he squirms and makes angry noises at me. As soon as I cut it off he's fine. I'm sure he likes some music.... just not my music.

My guinea pigs, like most guinea pigs are wary and sometimes skittish of sudden noises such as the gate closing and even a sneeze! haha. However, I have a friend who loves serenading them on his guitar and they love it! They stick their little noses out of their houses and popcorn around. Most adorable! =D

I havent tried the piano yet thou, cos I dont have one at home, but Im definately looking of trying it out. Oh ya. They seem to like major cords better. hahaa =D

Gizzy does the same. She is on free range and I leave the TV on music for her all day she is in a much happier mood on days when I remember to switch the TV from "normal" to "Music".

She is not one for silence and during our never ending power breaks I will play her some music on my cell phone when she starts to get restless.

I am currenlty playing Buffy some Radiohead she seems quite pleased although hard to tell, she is mostly pleased all the time, because she knows she is Queen of the Universe. You can look into her eyes and you know that she thinks this, in a calm sort of a way. Whereas Avril has this crazy excitement about her that you can look at her and know she is exclaiming 'IM A GUINEA PIG!! I AM AWESOME!' as she looks around with excitement.

I was thinking about this today, so it's really cool that someone posted this!!

I tend to sing A LOT if I'm having some mental issues because it grounds me. During lap time, I'll start to sing and Santino will come rushing over to me and Barney makes a couple wheeks (he's my backup

). My cat Dora seems to think that my singing is me calling her, so she rushes over as well, although if a pig is in my lap, she's not allowed there, but she'll sit at my feet and rub, rub, rub.

It's strange how they react to singing and music in general. If I sing something soothing like Etta James or The Counting Crows (circa '94) then everyone just kind of chills and lay about. Once the B52s start, there is a lot of movement, popcorning, etc... No one really seems to respond when I play Marilyn Manson...they just mill about doing their own thing...

I've started dancing and singing with the pigs like I do with Dora and I get a reward made of purrs

I LOVE IT!!!

My daughter brought home a Metallica disc last week, and turned it on while the girls were on teh floor. As soon as it came on, they ran laps like freaks and were pop corning all over!!

She turned it off and they stopped flat! turn it on - more freakish laps and pop corn...off - dead stop!

It was a hoot!!

I sing to mine too, like Heady. I have no musical training but have a child-friendly singing voice that they seem to like. And they recognize food-related songs (I make them up, usually to existing tunes) like "All the Little Piggies in the World" (must eat their peppers, etc.)

I didn't see this thread and started another one about music. It was suggested I repost the link to choirboys singing the "Duet of the Cats" here. My piggies really like it, or at least pay a lot of attention to it. Your piggies may enjoy it too.

When I do their spot cleaning in the evenings, we turn on the radio. They don't seem to pay any attention to the music unless a Metallica song comes on. Then they get playful and rowdy!

They also love Tim Janis music. My husband will put a Tim Janis CD on and cuddle the babies on his lap. They get so relaxed and mellow that they actually lay there and sleep with their eyes closed!
