Ok, so I'm picking up my new baby Sunday, and it's maybe an hour drive for me one way, so he will be in a pet carrier for that time during the ride. I was curious as if I should take a water bottle? As the other party is also driving an hour, therefore being 2 hours total before I get him home. I plan on putting some hay and a cleanly washed snuggle sack in the pet carrier so he will have a place to "hide" for the ride. Any other suggestions to keep the stress level down, is greatly appreciated. I'm so excited!! |

Water bottles are likely to make a mess - stick with wet veggies. Good luck! |

I've actually never had a problem with a water bottle making too much of a mess attached to a pet carrier during transport like this, but I don't see any reason to use one for just an hour's trip if you're going to have plenty of wet veggies instead. Since the new guy might not know how to use the cuddle sack or be too freaked out to explore, I'd maybe cover the whole carrier with a towel or something to help him maybe feel more safe and secure. I'd also include some hay, he might feel inclined to bury himself in that even if he doesn't want to eat it. Good luck and congratulations! Last edited by Paula; 10-24-09 at 07:35 pm. |

The water bottle made a big mess when I tried having one during transport. All I had was a bunch of hay, a towel to cover the bottom of a laundry basket, and another towel for the pigs to hide in. They seemed fine, it was a 45 minute drive or so for me. |

The only concern I have is them being litter mates and going through puberty at the same time, which I've read sometimes is a hassle and separation has to be done? I don't know.... Then others say it's hard to have 3 boars as uneven #'s in boars don't work out well? Decisions, decisions....I just want to make the right one for everyone involved. |
