Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Hey I was just wondering what times guinea pigs are most likely to sleep and what times they are active. I've read that 7am and 7pm are times they are most often up but my guinea pigs seem to be awake ALL the time, especially when get home at 3pm and 6:30am feeding times. Now I do have two dogs that are kept away from them all the time but the dogs smell and sounds might be keeping them awake. Thanks for your help. |

They are awake most of the time, about 20 hours out of a 24 hour period. They sleep in very short bursts of 10-15 minutes at a time all throughout the day and night, most often with their eyes open. Sometimes you can't tell if they are awake or asleep. Normally, only pigs that are very comfortable in their surroundings will close their eyes when sleeping. Some people say that they are most active at dawn and twilight, but in my own experiences, I've found that not to be true. My pigs are active in the late morning, the afternoons and sometimes at 3 a.m. |
