Edit by Ly: This thread is for discussion about the Happy Halloween! Post Your Spook-tacular Pig Pics thread found here: Guinea Pig Cages, Care, Store, Photos of Guinea Pigs and More Forum!. That thread is for posting pictures ONLY and leaving comments about the pictures. It is not for asking questions about care or giving advice. It was meant to be a fun Halloween photo thread but instead it was taken off topic just as so many other threads are taken off topic. If you have any discussion about the care shown in a photo or want to ask questions about diet or nail trimming or anything else, please use this thread and feel free to post a link to the post in question. Sorry to hijack your post, Nichols, but I need this at the top of this thread. End Edit In reference to http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/453436-post17.html That's a nice picture Iluvepiggies, but if that is a recent picture, your pigs REALLY need their nails cut. Nails should NEVER be allowed to get that long (They show be trimmed once a month) Last edited by Ly&Pigs; 10-17-09 at 08:51 pm. Reason: Hijacking, haha. |

That's a while go. Sandy's nails are clipped nice and small. There's maybe only a few inches between the quick line. |

I mean they are short. Not curled. Not between, I meant. Sandy walks perfectly fine. And Carly's nails are short just like Sandy's too. |

She may walk fine, but that doesn't mean she's not in pain. Those nails are so long that they need to be cut often in order to make the quick recede. |

They are! Right now, they are still short. So if I cut them now, I would hit the quik line. That's a very old picture. Maybe a year old. |

Do you think you could take a picture and show us their nails now? And maybe we should have a discussion thread and just put pigtures in this thread... |

A few inches is more than a whole nail should be itself! Unless I am misunderstanding, that is NOT short! |

As Ly stated. This nails discussion should be in a new thread. You said "a few inches" Gasp. 1 inch is = to 2.54 cm. Get a measuring tape and look. No piggie should have even 1 inch inch beyond the quick line. Sorry but thats just sheer neglect and disgraceful. Weather it be a year ago or a day ago. |

For clarification, can you please show us a picture of their nails because I don't understand how you measure their nails. And the hat on vampire pig is adorable. |

Hi. If you are trying to get a photo of a foot just hold said piggie and put the camerA infront of piggie and snap a snot. |

You can also do a self-timer or ask someone to hold her while you take a picture. |

Nice editing. I find it odd that she stood still for that pigture and every other one, but not for a pigture when I ask to see their feet. Interesting... |

She did not stay still for long. That's the best pic I got of her. Then it was zzzooming off in my room. Silly piggy. STAY STILL! GRR. Even Sandy, my lazy pig, won't stay still. Maybe I can tempt her with a carrot tomorrow. |

I find that absolutely impossible to believe. In January you also have a Claw photo in your gallery(3rd photo on the bottom) |

To be fair, I doubt someone would use that as an excuse for getting out of showing a picture. Surely, even if their piggie's nails are too long right now, they could just be trimmed and then have it's picture taken, and we still wouldn't know. (Although it would be a relief to be sure the pigs nails are a healthy length now.) Quote:
In my books, a "few" is about 3. So 3 cm = more than 1 inch. You clearly dont seem to know what these measurement are in reality and you're probably aggravating the situation more by mistakenly saying these things. I'm new so sorry I don't know but are you referring to your pig named pumpkin or an actual pumpkin? Neither would be an inch in size as far as I'm aware. Unless your piggy/pumpkin is newly born or something. The end of the nail should be a few mm (a mm is 1/10 of a cm!) from the quick line. |

Nails need trimmed about every 3-4 weeks. When they are cut, they should be as close to the quick as possible because it makes the quick recede. There is no reason whatsoever that a pigs nails should be as long as they were in ILP's photo. But I've learned some things about ILP. She tends to make excuses for many things and doesn't bother going back and answering questions that are asked of her on posts. It's rather irritating. Generally, you ask someone a question and they give you an answer, not an excuse or ignore you altogether. |

OK! It probably is a MM. I cannot cut any of my piggies nails without hitting the quick line. They get out and I check their nails. Honestly! But none of them have grown since I cut them. I cut them down to a MM and then they're done! |
