Do your pigs watch television? Last night my husband and I brought out our three pigs for floortime while we were watching a movie. Tahiri and Kimi just ran about and into hideys and whatnot, but Leonidas wandered for a little while, and then sat down facing the television! He stayed that way for the whole movie, took a second here and there and clean himself or readjust the way he was sitting... it really looked as though he was watching the television! I was wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences?

My boys usually get lap time with me at night when I'm watching TV. They seem to be pretty happy to watch the flashing lights.

That's so adorable! Same thing happened to me a few days ago.
I put Hammie and Teddie on the floor so I can play with them. Then after a while they both turned around and looked at the TV which was playing Animal Planet.
I couldn't get them to stop looking until I waved a carrot in both their faces.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one!

That's so funny that they wheek when the audience laughs, princesspoppy!
JD and Ted&Ham- Is it just the lights/animal planet, or do they pay more attention to certain things? Leonidas only seems to like action movies so far... we've had him out during a few other things but he paid them no mind.

Re: Do your pigs watch television?
I've actually thought about putting our small tv into the piggy room. We have 4 at the moment, and only need two. The plasma screen wont fit, so the black and white will do. I dont remember having my piggies watch television, but I know my cat loves Teletubbies.

Re: Do your pigs watch television?
I've seen Teddie be more interested in scientific or animal related things.
I was watching animal cops but I saw something really disgusting so I changed the channel but Teddie looked back at me as if he was saying, "change it back!"
Hammie likes to sit with me and watch Food network. That little fattie!

Seeing as though Gizzy is still on her own (with any luck her new friend will arrive in as little as 14 days - yippie) I leave the TV on for her during the day on a music channel however I have found that she is happier when I left it on a TV with a lot of talking! Weird!

Re: Do your pigs watch television?
The same happens with two of my cavies, two brothers that are as thick as thieves. If the TV is on they just sit in front of it, always in the same place, and just stay there without moving, even while I show them some food. I can't do anything but laugh.
My other cavies don't do that, so I guess it depends on the pig.

Re: Do your pigs watch television?
I love this!
My guys don't watch TV, that I've noticed. They usually groove out to music, specifically, old motown songs.
But Alton has this internet video that he loves to watch on the computer. He will walk up to the computer screen and watch it. He even burbles at it. It's ridiculous! His little lower lip drops a little and you can see the video reflect in his dazzled little pink eyes.
The video is from a children's TV show called "Big en Betsy". I believe it is from Belgium, the show is in Dutch. It is an animated clip where a pig (Big) is gathering eggs for Betsy and has a lot of flatulence, which entertains the other animals on the farm, but disgusts Betsy because some of the gas gets stuck in the eggs Big brings her. So she throws the cake in his face, then gets over her initial upset and gives him a bath.
I'm not sure why Alton likes this particular video so much, but he does!
I have a photo of him watching it, I'll have to find it and post it!

Re: Do your pigs watch television? Princess liked watching the NBA Finals and now Lita cuddles under my chin facing the T.V just burbling away. It is almost like she is talking to me about the program.

Re: Do your pigs watch television?
My pigs haven't started "watching" it yet, but I've had to separate them temporarily because the TV.
Bandit loves benig anywhere there's noise. If she's not in the living room with the TV she'll squeal until we put her back near it. Then she popcorns around.
Miss Diva is the opposite. Even across the room, she's afraid of the TV. She'll send out her alarm call and try to hide, climb out of the cage, and physically shakes; you can tell when you touch her.
So she's in my room, while Bandit is in with the TV.
I don't know how I'm going to get them to live together happily again, but they're okay for now.

Re: Do your pigs watch television?
It's unbelievable! Byron actually has a favorite song. He loves "Stoned Love" by The Supremes. He wheeks when he hears the background singers go "oooooooooh". We can't figure it out. We've even tried playing other songs and Byron doesn't react to them like he does "Stoned Love". Other popular favorites appear to be "The Love You Save" from the Jackson 5 and "I Love Her So Much (It Hurts Me Bad) by The Majestics. It's bizarre. Then earlier today, I had some old punk rock on and when I turned it off, Fitzroy and Errol were wheeking up a storm, which then Byron and Carlton had to join in. They are really weird creatures. Alton doesn't pay attention to the music, just the video, and Carlton doesn't seem that interested in either. I guess it's a personal thing for them.

Re: Do your pigs watch television?
I was just going through the photo albums on our computer and I found more pictures of Alton watching that silly cartoon! He's obsessed!
Look how pert his ears are and how the video reflects in his attentive eyes...
He's so into it!
Poor Winston is saying, "get me out of here!"
If this isn't proof that pigs watch tv/videos, I don't know what is!
