Fighting over cucumber! HELP! - Guinea Pig Cages, Care, Store, Photos of Guinea Pigs and More Forum!

Hi, I was wondering if you could help. I have three male guinea pigs and whenever I put a bowl of cucumber down for them they all fight over one piece of cucuber wich one of the other ones have got instead of getting thier own. I am worried that one day they will get really temprementall and bit each other or stuff like that?

Instead of giving a bowl full of cucumbers, not very nutritious anyway, so their not missing anything, give them one piece each.

I like that one queen, that sounds good.

Even though cucumbers are not overly nutritious they are packed with water which is very good for piggies especially those that tend not to drink alot. So cucumbers do play a part in your piggies health.

Thanks, Or maybe try cutting the cucumbers into smaller pieces so their is more to go around.

Also, how long is the bowl you put down? You should make sure its long enough for the piggies to get to the food at the same time. I have a long dish and I divide up the same food, half on one side and half on the other for my 2 piggies and they each can get food at the same time and they each have the same food since I divided it up. Works well here.

What also works well if you put the bowl in the middle of the cage so the piggies can come from all sides and eat it.

It is also normal for a pig to want what another one has. I have 4 and one will always go up to another one and try to take what is in the other one mouth. I have also had my 2 fosters play tug a war with a baby carrot even though there were 3 more in their bowl. I have a round bowl which is kept in the middle of their cage.

Alright, most likely they are going to fight. I think a good idea is to take them each out for floor time individually and give them there own cucumbers! Instead of giving it to them while they are still in there cage,because even if you give them each there own while they are together, they will fight over one piece! Trust me!

Thats so true. Ascot always takes food directly from furlongs mouth even though theres a huge pile on the floor

Not all the time Weezer.My girls take turns with their food and what is the point of taking them out for individual floor time. They are more happier when they are together.
