Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Right sorry if this has been asked before but the search button isnt working for some reason? I have been in contact with my local RSPCA and they have shown me some pictures of three absoloutly STUNNING girls that need adopting. They are mother and her two daughters, and they are all long haired, the two daughters hair looks smooth whereas the mothers hair looks quite fuzzy. Now I've never owned long haired piggys before and wanted to ask you all on the daily care they need. Do they need brushing everyday? How often do you bath them, if ever? And what about haircuts? I want to learn as much as possible as they are coming into care soon, and I have totally fallen in love with them! Thank you in advance! I will post pics here if needed |

They need to be brushed daily. They don't need to be bathed often, but sometimes they need butt baths. I try to keep Sebastians hair short in the back. I trim his hair about every 6 to 8 weeks. I use fleece and Yesterday's News so the only thing that gets caught in his fur is hay, which turns out to be not a lot. Ever since I brought him home he doesn't get knots in his fur so I don't have to cut any of that out. He came to me with a ton. |

I have two long-haired boys; a silkie and a peruvian. I bush both guys daily, and they get baths about once every other month or so. I keep the hair on both of the butts pretty short, which helps a lot. |

I wouldn't mind seeing a picture. I use a wire comb. For shampoo I use Gorgeous Guineas Gorgeous Guineas: Welcome To Gorgeous Guineas HQ!. It's a great product. You can also use any shampoo that is made for bunnies or kittens. Make sure it isn't medicated. I know Sebastian had a lot of problems with grooming after I got him. He was in bad shape when I brought him home. I know that his fur is much less likely to get knotted now because I think the better diet has made his fur softer. |

Thank you Ly for sorting the pictures out! They are gorgeous arn't they? I'm wondering what lotties hair will look like after a good bath and a brush - the lady I spoke to did say that they looked a bit scruffy in this picture as it was the first time they arrived in. What breed is Lottie? |

Goregeous pics. My old Dougal was a long haird pig. He needed a quick brush daily, for which I used a soft brisstled baby brush. This seemed to do the job, and as mentioned above as he was never bedded on sawdust etc he never really picked up anything in his coat apart from the odd bit of hay. I kept his back end well trimmed. I also regularly cut the rest of his coat so that it was kept off the floor. In the summer when it was hot he had a much shorter cut. He looked rather scruffy - but it certainly helped keep him cooler. I found I was trimming him very regularly. His nails never seemed to grow very much - but his hair growth was phenomenal!!!! I think he diverted everything he ate into growing a new super long coat. At least being a bit of a lap pig he was very good about sitting still for hair cuts. |

LOVE your piggies! They are adorable! I have two long-haired as well, and they are quite the handful! I have trouble brushing my girls because they are skittish and don't really like it much. I also have a lot of trouble cutting their hair. They just don't want to sit still! Any ideas anyone? |
