Question Domintant piggy nibbling on me!

My boyfriend and I have 2 piggies. Pinkie and Charlie. Pinkie is a dominant one.
When having lap time we tend to feed them salad. Pinkie is really greedy and will go jumping from one lap to the other eager to get the food before Charlie gets a look in.
Sometimes Pinkie nibbles on me. Every time it's made me jump! she never hurts me though... she nibbles on our fingers and arms. and nibbles a little harder on my nails!
I'm worried that one day she'll really bite one of us? do you think this is likely to happen? I think the nibbling is mainly food related (she's looking for treats?) I'd like to just let her do it, but my instincts just make me pull my hand away.
What does everyone else do when your piggies have a nibble on you!?

It's probably because you smell like their food.
Feed them in their cage, wash your hands with a soap, and when their done eating have lap time.
Their should be no more nibbling.
My piggies do the same thing, and this works for me.
Hope I helped!

I kind of like the nibbling but I'm scared it might turn into a bite! I'm not too worried about stopping it, as it's cute and it's just Pinkie's personality. I just kind of want to know if she'd be likely to bite me or not if I don't pull my hand away!

Re: Domintant piggy nibbling on me!

Cocoa likes to lick/nibble my fingers during lap time also. She's never bit down really hard and I'm always alert when she's nibbling just in case she would. She does like to try to take a bite out of my mom's nails like a chew toy though.

I agree that washing your hands after veggie feeding is a good idea, just make sure to use a soap that doesn't smell like another type of food.

My mom currently has a mango scented soap in our bathroom so I have to be extra careful because apparently Cocoa likes the scent.

Re: Domintant piggy nibbling on me!

Well, like I say, gotta try everything once.
She may or may not bite, there is no real way to tell.
I would just let her nibble, and be calm and relaxed, and if she bites, then you know not to let her nibble for to long.
If she doesn't, then thats probably her version of a guinea kiss.
When i first got my dom Asuka, she bit the hell out of my hands.
But a little patience, and consistancy, she doesnt bite anymore.
A guinea bite looks and feels alot worse then it really is.
So if you do get bit, dont fling your arm and try to resist jumping. If she clamps down(im not sure if they do) then put some water on her, or dip her bottom in water if possible, and just put her back and clean the wound with peroxide.
Thats just what I would do, kinda like a trial and error sorta thing.
Also something I noticed about asuka, whenever she was about to bite, she always tensed up.
so maybe once you see her tense you can pull your hand away?
Let us know what you do, this is an intresting topic, and the more tips their are for people the better.
Hope I helped!
