Re: Anyone else considered the rescue person?

MissFormosa I can understand where you are coming from, I myself do not get along with my mother. She has always had pets that were more possions then anything esle. I remember quite a few long rides with cats that she didn't want anymore or the litters upon litters that the female cats always had. Or all the times I would go visit my father and come home to find out she got rid of another "pet". She was/is very unfeeling even towards humans. But the one good thing that came out of a horrid upbringing is I know what I don't want to do to others.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! Yes, I've also learned a valuable lesson about animals out of the cruelty of others.

I had 3 cats when I lived with a former boyfriend. He didn't like one of them and one day took her for a ride and left her in the woods two towns away. I always hoped she was one who would find her way back home, but she never did. I was pretty disgusted and angry to say the least. I don't understand how people can do this stuff

My boss was telling me a story about how her mother cooked her and her sister's rabbits when they were kids and didn't take care of them.

People really are disgusting. I wonder why so many people fail to realize that animals have feelings too. To me, they are a living thing, same as me. They may not be as smart, may not have opposable thumbs, and may not value money as a means to get what they want, but they have their own little souls, personalities, thoughts, and lives. How can other people not see this? Have they never seen an animal play or how it begs for its food? Do they not realize that humans are completely responsible for all of their needs and that they will grow to love and respect us for it if we give them our attention and a caring heart? I have always wondered. I guess some people see animals as some sort of novelty for their entertainment that is easily disposable. Just like an old TV set, only it seems the TV set always stays around a lot longer than the animal. That should say something about these sort of people. We live in such a disposable society, it's despicable.

I just read the other day in some information the ASPCA sent me about donations about someone who buried puppies alive and someone who grilled a kitten on a bbq and someone who baked a cat like a Thanksgiving turkey because of a jealous lover. Can you believe it? I couldn't stop thinking about it and going over and over in my head how much those animals suffered, how awful it was. My husband had to actually take the information away from me, I couldn't stop asking who could go to that extreme. It absolutely boggles me. It made me cry. I still tear up thinking about those poor souls. And these are just examples about of millions.

I don't know about you, but I feel really uncomfortable with people like this in this world. The literature also said that animal abuse is directly related to child abuse and as a mother, that frightens me. These are people that prey directly on children and animals that are smaller than them and helpless to defend themselves. They get some sort of satisfaction from it. To me, that is the sickest of all humans and they should be put away. Absolutely disgusting.

Here's another article on read on the connection of animal and child abuse:

Pet-Abuse.Com - Abuse Connection - The Link Between Animal Cruelty and Interpersonal Violence

Unbelievable.

Re: Anyone else considered the rescue person?

My siblings often tell me stories about going to school and coming home to find their beloved cat/dog gone but this thread says much worst things than that ever was. At least she took them to a pound or shelter that could properly take care of them and find them a new home.
