Which tool?

Hi, I'm new to the forum, so sorry if this is a repeat question...

My guinea pigs need some nail care! What tool is best to use to trim their nails with? I have found some scissors at the pet shop, where one side of the scissors is normal, and the other side is curved like this:

But I am worried if I buy these, then they will be difficult to use, as my vet uses clippers rather than scissors.

What can you recommend?
Thanks.

Re: Which tool?

I use those exact same scissors to cut my pigs nails. They work great. I think they are much easier to use than clippers at least for me where I am always so weary of hurting the pigs. They seem more precise to me and I am much more comfortable cutting the nails with that style.

I use human nail clippers. They work just fine.

Re: Which tool?

I use something like that as well. It works perfectly. Also, if you don't want to hit the quik, find some bright light and that should make the quik appear. Its bright red. It looks like blood

Re: Which tool?

I'd be a bit cautious using those. I don't have much experience, but they just looks so big. I might just try human name clippers and if those didn't work buy that and try it. Hope this helped!

Re: Which tool?

I use human clippers. I was given a pair of those with my new pig that I rescued, but I've yet to use them. I feel like I can see more of their little nails with the human clippers to avoid clipping too far. Especially for my black nailed piggies

It's all personal preference. I think those scissors are fine, lots of people use them with no problem.

Re: Which tool?

I use ones similar to those and have not had a problem. Would human nail clippers leave the nail kinda split though if not used properly?

They cut just fine for me. I think anything could cause a problem if not used properly...

Older ones that have gotten dull would. They would do the same to human nails too so I would think that once a pair of clippers got to that point, they would be replaced.

Neither choice is better than the other. It's all about personal preference

I also use human nail clippers. So far they have worked just fine for me.
I'm a total scarred y cat when it comes to clipping the boys nails, so I ussually have my daughter do it.

Re: Which tool?

Thank you for all the quick responses! I will buy those scissors and give them a shot. If they don't work, I will try human nail clippers.
