Girl mounting other girl

Recently i have put my new piggy(Hershey Kisses) in with my older one(Miss Piggy). They have been rumbling at eachother and i am not quite sure why. Also Miss Piggy has been trying to mount Hershey Kisses, i know 100% they are both female. They do not bite eachother and are normally fine. When they rumble they walk stiff-like and follow each other with no fighting though.

Also Hershey, who is from a rescue, is possibly pregnant(before i adopted) she seems like she may soon be due. Will it be ok to keep Miss Piggy in with Hershey and the babies?

Re: Girl mounting other girl

It is either dominance or she is in heat.

Usually the other sow acts as auntie to babies. It is fine to leave them together.

Re: Girl mounting other girl

Sounds like a dominence thing, especially if they have only just been put in together. My girls were the same for a while but have sorted themselves out now.
Give them some time and watch them closely.

Re: Girl mounting other girl

I don't have girls so I can't tell you for sure how they normally act, but it does sound like a dominance thing.

However, if you think one of your pigs is pregnant (and especially if you think she is due soon) now is the time to read up on how to take care of the babies. Make sure you baby-proof your cage before they are born, and remember you will need to seperate the males when they become of age to mate. I believe it's 21 days, but someone double-check me on that.

If you are unsure if she's pregnant, you can always take her to the vet. If you just got her maybe you should take her to the vet anyways just to get checked out.

Ya I have been looking at baby care. Thank you all so much. What are some things to have the vet check on when it is just an anuall check-up
