Behavior Gargling/Singing Guineas Pigs - Guinea Pig Cages, Care, Store, Photos of Guinea Pigs and More Forum!

Hello Everyone!! The past week or so I have been hearing my guinea pigs make a sound that sounds as if you were to gargle with your voice. Sounds really cool. I hope it's a good sound anyway. Does anyone have this happen to them? I recently added a throw pillow that they seem to love jumping off of. Cracks me up!! They will do it for the longest time. Maybe that is what has made them happy (I hope).. Any input from anyone would be appreciated!!!

Well it's not an actual gurgle from them it just sounds like a human gargling with your voice. Try it and you will understand what I am saying. Reminds me of The Gremlins movie.

Is it a rumbling noise? What are they doing when they make it? It might be rumblestrutting... try a forum search for that term and see if it makes sense to you.

I don't think they are in bad moods when they do it. They are usually running around the cage and leaping off their new pillow we got them. My daughter told me a minute ago that they sound like Chewbaca from Star Wars. I have looked them up and it is purring. I new it was a happy type sound. Thanks for everyone helping me to figure this out!!
