HEALTH RELATED PROBLEMS
Today when I was holding my Lucy (piggy) she whizzed on me, which is no problem. But the color was a milkish white color. Then when I was cleaner her cage I had her in her holding cage and she went again and again it was milkish white. Does anyone know what this means. She has a full supply of Timothy hay and pellets every day with a new change of water bottle daily. WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY LUCY?????? HELP!

Re: HEALTH RELATED PROBLEMS
The milkish white color of urine in guinea pigs is normal. Guinea pigs pass extra calcium that their body doesn't need and that is what creates the white milkish color in the urine.
Your Lucy is fine!

Re: color
If calcium is being passed out in urine, surely that means too much calcium is being fed? (as it would only be passed once the gp has what it needs) I've read feeding to much calcium can cause bladder stones, so just wanted to check on this.

Re: color
I agree 2steps. I've never seen my guinea pigs have white poos before. They are definitely getting too much calcium and no they're not fine, you need to slow down on feeding them whatever foods that have a whole bunch of calcium in them, otherwise, like you said, they can have health problems.

Re: HEALTH RELATED PROBLEMS
JJThinker - Are the pellets you feed your pigs timothy or alfalfa based? What type of fresh veggies do you offer them?
Star - It wasn't white "poos" it was milky colored urine.

Re: HEALTH RELATED PROBLEMS
I've never seen that falcon, but it doesn't sound right.
On eof my pigs had milky urine and I read it was due to too much calcium in the diet. I cut out calcium rich foods and it stoppped. Parsley is rich in calcium and so are alfalfa based
pellets. I'm thinking, the only treatment for kidney stones is surgery so it's better not to take chances. Does anyone know if there's any other treatment?

Thanks.
I actually took Lucy to the Doctor a couple of days ago. I was feeding her alfelfa pellets, which I have now switched to tim. hay pellets. Lucy sneezes a lot that's the real reason I was taking her to see the doctor. The doc said she was fine. But I have my doubts. She sneezes a LOT. I'm talking about up to 3 times per minture or a little less. He's the only vet who will look at small animals in my area. Does anyone know any other health resource that I could use to check up on Lucy.
And just so you know Lucy stopped whizzing white the very next day. I'm getting maybe she had too many veggies the day before.
Thanks again for all the feed back!
