My farther just took my two guinea pigs and left them at the local golf course. I don't know what to do, because its cold (its Inwood, new york). Could they survive the night. would they stick together should I look for them tomorrow when the golf course opens? I don't know what to do and just need some advice. |

Why did your father abandon your guinea pigs at a golf course? How long ago was this? There is a slim to none chance they will survive the night with it being so cold. If I was in your current situation, I would drive over to that golf course with flashlights and blankets and find your pigs. (I don't mean to sound harsh) |

He has not said anything except he got rid of them. My sister who went with him let her rabbit go as well told me it was at the park but she will not tell me exactly where either. I already looked but its a huge park and golf course and I did not find either of them. I was gonna look again tomorrow when it reopened but its 37 degrees out now so I doubt I will find them alive if at all. I have no idea why he did this, everything from the care to paying for the food was done by me. it happened when i was out and i guess he thought that if my sister was getting rid of her rabbit that he should get rid of all the animals. trust me when i say I really tried to find them and am just upset now. |

lmarieaa, if you can go look for them, PLEASE DO. There is no way this kid has the ability to do anything about. If you can't get out there right away, call animal control in your area. Call them right away. Leave a message so someone MIGHT be able to go deal with it first thing in the morning. Good grief. |

I'd be very surprised if any of them survived the night. "Seeing them free" makes them food for predators or starve/ freeze to death. It's illegal to boot. I'm hoping someone is able to find them safe though. Can you get them to tell you where exactly they dumped them so they have a better chance? |

I am going to call animal control and ASPCA. I will be on my way to the park as soon as I can. Any other details about where they were dropped off would be helpful. |

This is tough to read. Sounds like a tall order. As guinea pigs are such good hiders, I can't imagine trying to find one in a park or golf course. It would take me hours just to find my pigs in my backyard if they got loose. Good luck Imarieaa, and it's great of you to offer your help. |

they are two males... one black and white the other brown white and black. I have no idea where they where dropped, the whole day no one talked about it. thanks for calling aspca.. its a HUGE park and its been like 12 hours since he got rid of them mabey one of the guys who mows the lawn will find them. dont waste your time going from manhatten to inwood. its not your fault my farther got rid of them and i would feel bad wasting some one's time, I just wanted to know if there was hope of finding them alive even cause of the tempature. i am tired and upset so i am going to go to sleep so i probley wont respond till tommorw or after i come back from looking. |

Reminds me of a really gross story a guy at work told me. They used to mow hay, and in the summer they would find umm guinea pigs that had been chopped up by the combine. People would let them loose in the summer, thinking they'd be fine. I shudder to think what would happen to those piggies come winter. We live in Northeast Ohio where winter means cold and plenty of snow. About the only thing I can think is that hopefully they'll find them because they're white. Course so will the Hawks, and if they freeze first it won't matter. |

what?! why would your father take guinea pigs to a gold course and leave them there? i think you should do out with lights and a box right now and do your best to find them. then wait untill the golf course opens and look more hope you find them x |

If they aren't there someone has probably found them. The least your father could have done is dump them at an animal shelter! My gosh I just can't believe how some people can lack so much care and compassion for other living things. ![]() If you do find them, I am sorry to say this but you should probably not take them home with you. |

Why should Imerriea not take them home? At least she could keep them over night to be fed then get a hold of creatfire and talk with his/her dad. Maybe creatfire's dad doesn't see him/her as a responsible pet owner but he should've known the facts before getting rid of the Guinea Pigs. Good luck to anybody that finds the Guinea Pigs and Best of luck to the Guinea Pigs! |

This is probably the most disturbing thing I've read on here. I'm a new mommy, this Friday will be my 3rd with my babies and I can't imagine what I would do if someone did this to me. Have you asked your father why he did it? I know hes your father but he should have to face up to what he's done and I would call your aspca so they can come have a chat with him. I'm sorry this happened to you =[ I wish the best for those poor piggies. |

My jaw just dropped and my eyes popped. I used to live in an temperate-continental climate. I know what winter is in NY, and it ain't subtropical South Fl. They will not survive the cold if someone will not find them on time. ASPCA should get a "good" talk with creatifire's dad. Now I am all worried too. Quote:
