you may know what is right for them, BUT does your mom & dad knows what is right for their house & their bank??? It is their right as well if the house you are housing your pigs is not paid for by you per say... Do you also let your parents know that if your pigs keep breeding... That 440 guinea pigs that eventually condemned a house could be YOUR HOUSE??? Does your parents know that?? That it can happen within only a couple of years to get that much out of control? OK, if you say it is your right, ever spare a thought on your own parents?? They might not want what you want for your pigs. P.S. Ly&pigs, I love that "alien did it" line. Thats just too funny. |

I hope all goes well with her recovery and all that, and the pups. If you can get the name of the animal hospital for me, though, that would be awesome. |

The cure for ovarian cysts is spaying. It may be you are just feeling more cysts or a post op abscess rather than babies. Maybe you should have an adult take her back to a good vet Guinea Lynx :: Finding a Veterinarian It sounds like you don't understand what the vet said. Or maybe you're confusing abscess or tumors with cysts. |

Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Maybelle, do you know that I am an Administrator and Moderator on this forum? Do you know that the Owner of this forum leaves the forum in the Moderators' hands when she is away? You might want to read your private messages and start obeying the forum rules because you keep racking up impactions. Soon you will be caged if you don't follow the rules. Ovarian cysts are on the inside where her ovaries are. Maybe she had a different type of cyst that needed removed? |

You got yourself into this mess, you can get yourself out of it by explaining what is actually going on with your pigs and answering questions. Just be truthful with us is all we ask. I don't feel that this thread needs deleted or closed at this time. |

Does this vet have a website? Okay, if you didn't have your guinea pig spayed then why is she in with boys after her non spay? She is pregnant and could die because of you. I think you need to get your parents involved in helping you out since you don't seem capable. |

Why is the end result of breeding the pigs all the same? Either the owners wants to give them all away or give them up to the shelter? Maybelle, You have just answered why pig owners should NEVER breed pigs... "you all" just end up giving your pigs away (either to rescues, shelters, others etc.). That IS the final answers to many breeders. Why do you think there is an over-population of GPs out there??? "maybe i should just give them away" this is the fact! And you are NOT the only person that have stated that. Read this: Scroll to post #37. She is just like you... end up wanting to give them all away! P.S. That is the very reason why a NO to breeding should be upheld, without ANY EXCUSES/ JUSTIFICATIONS EXCUSED! Add: Such is your love for your GPs? That is very sad! |

I'm a little confused. A spay (ovariohysterectomy) is the surgical proceedure of removing the ovaries, oviducts, and uterus. There is no way a sow can be pregnant after being spayed, they would have aborted the fetus. An ovarian cyst wouldn't be located outside the body, but I am a little converned about what you may be feeling. I'm not saying she may not be pregnant, or that she has a cyst or whatever. I'm only a first year vet tech student and even after education would loose my job for diagnosing something such as that. I think you need to get your parents involved, that's very important. Do they know you're expecting pups out of your girl? Serious complications can occur so its important you be truthful and honest to your parents so that your girl can get the proper care she needs throughout this pregnancy and so that her cage mates can be neutered! I would also highly recommend taking your girl to a DIFFERENT veterinarian for a second opinion. I think some tests need to be done to determine exactly what is going on here. I'm not sure if you were just confused by what the vet said? A good link was provided to help you find a cavy-savvy vet. Good luck. I also hope that from now on you can be open and honest with us, there is no reason not you. Sometimes mistakes happen, we're all at fault of that at one point or another, it's realizing that mistake and how we handle them that really matters. Your here looking for assistance I'm assuming, and we can't properly help you without the truth. |

Maybelle, There are some forums where it's okay to make up stories, about your life, about characters in books, or whatever. But this forum isn't one of them. In this forum, if you want help with your pig, you have to tell the truth about what's going on. We can't help you if we don't know what's going on, and if you tell us things that aren't what's going on, we're not actually helping your pig. Did your pig have a lump on her belly that you could see and feel? Incidentally, fetuses can attach other places than in the uterus, at least in humans. This is an ectopic pregnancy and usually needs to be surgically removed, as it's a serious danger to the mother. Usually either the fetus gets large enough to rupture the woman's organs, or it starves because it can't draw nutrients from wherever it is, and dies and becomes an infection. About once every 5 years in the last couple of decades, a woman has had an ectopic pregnancy grow successfully to term because the baby was able to attach to, and draw nourishment from, the woman's intestines or stomach fat, and then they could be delivered by C-section. However, I have never heard of another animal having ectopic pregnancies at all! Perhaps they are better at absorbing them? |

If you are still here Maybelle, I would like to know the true story. Is your piggy even truly pregnant? Was it accidental or intentional? And did she have some sort of surgery since her pregnancy, which caused her to possibly miscarry the babies. Obviously not being spayed, but some other surgery, that you are worried about them not moving? I only want to know, if it is a true story, please do not bother with more stories, as a mod has said that will not be tolerated in these forums anyway. |
