Bathing Piggy !

Hi guys not been on here for a while !

Ok so im going to be bathing my piggies I usually put it off as long as possible because I get stressed and so do my piggies.

Is it better to bathe 2 piggies at the same time ?
Is it better to bathe a piggy in a big bath or a small sink ?
How do you calm your piggies down in the water ? (Russel goes crazy and tries to jump out)

Erm thats all for now. Thanks !

Re: Bathing Piggy !

I use a bathtub. I once tried the kitchen sink but one of my piggies jumped out. If I hadn't caught her, she might have hit the ground. The bathtub solves this problem.

If you are bathing more then one, I would recommend the bathtub.

I've never had to calm a piggie down. They usually just "freeze" and look at me until the trauma is over. My Rosie loves getting her hair dried. I think she loves the spa treatment she gets. Shampoo, blow dry, hair cut, nail trim. She's such a girl!

Re: Bathing Piggy !

I'd bathe one at a time if there's no one to help you dry them. Because you can't leave one to be cold from the bath while the other is being dried off. If you have someone else to help you then you could do both in the bathtub (with only a small amount of water) and then you could both dry them at the same time. You want them to be pretty much all the way dry before placing them back in the cage.

You can use a blow dryer to help dry them but the blow dryer needs to be on low and held at least 12" away from your pig.

Make sure you use a shampoo formulated for small animals and not human shampoos. No dog or cat shampoos that contain extra medications or insecticides such as pyrethrins.
