Thinking of finding harvey a new friend(and a couple pics)

Well I've had Harvey for about a month now and he's been living in the cage I built him. I'm not really happy with it currently but hes been happy and I've been giving him LOTS of floor time to make sure he stays happy. Recently hes been a brat pulling up his bedding and getting at the shower curtain thats over the wood and hes never eaten more then a nibble cause I've always caught him I've been leaving him in the large floor time cage I have for him for now.

I want to build a new cage for him thats a 2x5 out of coroplast and I think that would be the best time to pair him up with a buddy with the new cage. I think I'll be able to do this in the next couple weeks as long as I can figure it all out. Harvey is about 4 months old right now so I'm hoping he is still young enough to be open to a new friend.

Here he is with a snack

Also does Harvey seem huge to you?

He should be fine to pair up with a friend, although you may have some issues as he will be/is going through puberty. Some rescues will let you take him in and have a trial run with some boys to see if he gets along - but they would need to be reputable. As for his size, how much does he weigh? Cute pig!

Oh, I'm glad things are working out for him to get a friend. I second the rescue choice. They could help you pair him up with a friend. My Ziggy is 5 months and is going through major puberty issues. He is constantly strutting around the older boys and trying his hardest to be more dominant. As for his size, he doesn't look too big. I will go weigh Ziggy right quick and let you know his weight since they are so close in age. But you do have to take into consideration that breed counts some. Not too much though.

Your best bet would be to get an older boar (about a year or more old) or an already spayed sow. If you get another young boy, then you will most likely have a lot of problems when they both hit puberty.

That first pigture of him looks more like a stuffed animal. Great looking boy.

For some reason my abby haired boys always look much bigger than my smoothe coat boys. To me it seems they are more *squishy* and seem to have less muscle tone than smoothe coats. He is very handsome.

Harvey had a check up yesterday at the vet and he passed with flying colors. I haven't purchased a scale yet because I haven't found one yet I'm to happy about but will soon. He was weighed in yesterday at 3.2 pounds

Many people do have 3+ pound pigs. As long as he is healthy, he should be fine.

Harvey is a real cute one. I'm glad you're going to get him a friend. And as for his weight, I think he's pretty big for his age, so maybe he's older than you think?
