Not a Poppy Pig. One of my boys rarely popcorns. He wheeks and whistles at the top of his lungs though, for sure. He also runs laps when he feels the urge. Another one rarely wheeks at all, but popcorns when he's excited for yummy things like pellets and hay. I know pigs are different in vocal range, but do some of them not like to popcorn?

Re: Not a Poppy Pig. My Thor RARELY popcorns but when he does it's so funny because his feet never leave the ground. He just does a sort of head shake and mini-gallop. He's much larger than the other two, nervous, and just not as athletic. We've always picked on the poor boy for being too chubby to pop. I also suspect him to be slightly older and the older they get the less they popcorn. Milo was my poppiest pig a few months ago; he'd do nothing but popcorn for an entire hour of floor time and even he's slowed down in his older age. They're all very vocal wheekers though! You can hear them in all the rooms in our house!

Re: Not a Poppy Pig. Some pigs just don't popcorn. Plus some, the older they get, the less they do popcorn.

Re: Not a Poppy Pig. The one that rarely popcorns, though, is roughly six months. I didn't think anything was wrong with him, but just wanted to make sure he wasn't in pain or anything, just expresses happiness different than others.

Re: Not a Poppy Pig. My heavier boys don't really popcorn much. They do it sometimes but I think it's not worth the effort for the bigger guys to get their weight up in the air.

Re: Not a Poppy Pig. I have the same thing with my piggy, Clover, but she is 1 year old right now. I have never seen her popcorn. I really have always wanted to see a piggy do that, though. I don't know why she doesn't. She always has Oxbow hay and pellets, fresh veggies and water. And she has Carefresh Ultra, and I clean it every night. I also let her out to play daily. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Re: Not a Poppy Pig. I so wish I could. No matter what I say or do, my parents will not let me get another piggy. I am a fantastic owner, too! They just say: "Nope! We can't have another pet. Not at all!" And besides Clover, All we have is a small dog. If you can come up with a way for me to convice them, that would be great. But I already told them about how guinea pigs need the comfort of a friend, and they can become emotionally unhealthy, Ive tried almost everything.Last edited by Ly&Pigs : 07-12-08 at 12:10 am.

Re: Not a Poppy Pig. Clover, you have the same info posted in a couple of different threads. In the future, only put it in one place. You don't need to crosspost it.
