Traveling with Guinea Pigs.

Is it possible. My parents are seperated, and I visit my day 5-6 times a year (maybe). He lives 5 hours away. I would like to take my guinea pigs with me because I don't trust anyone else taking care of them. I have a carrier, and with either be taking the train or driving. Is it to stressful for them. They will have a cage down there, and nothing will change food wise/habitat wise. I will bring all there favorite toys with.

Is it possible?

Re: Traveling with Guinea Pigs.

I just flew with mine on Delta for 12 hours. They were just fine. I had them in the carrier and kept plenty of food and water.

Re: Traveling with Guinea Pigs.

Shouldn't be a problem. Make sure they have something soft and cozy in their carrier, since it sounds like a longer trip for them. They should be fine traveling with you.

Re: Traveling with Guinea Pigs.

I travel an hour and a half with my guinea pigs every week. They have a roomy carrier and I just give them veggies high in water or I soak the veggies in water the night before.

Re: Traveling with Guinea Pigs.

I drove 4 hours with a piggie in the carrier. Make sure you give wet vegetables. Also, you can bring a water bottle along and offer it. I assume in a 5 hour trip you probably stop for gas or for a bathroom breaks. Use that time to feed veggies and water.
