I just built a huge cage(3/4) for my 3 piggies. Yesterday I tried letting them meet, and it was going really well. Baby and Molly(Molly's the new pig) curled up in the pigloo and they looked really cute. Then all of the sudden Baby and Molly started to just freak out. They were jumping on each other and biting each other. I don't think any blood was drawn as far as I could see but I quickly got Molly out of that room. When I went to go see how Baby was, she seemed so sad and just sat there for a long time. Baby is a very mellow GP that is really lazy so it just didn't seem like her to start a fight. I would of expected it to be from my other pig Goldie. Later when I was spot cleaning I found a little tuff of hair from Molly. I split the cage so that Molly could have her own side but maybe still see the other two pigs. Is there anything else that I could do so that my piggies will get along and be able to be in the same cage? Thanks for all the replies that I get!

Re: fighting Maybe they were just bickering with each other? Two of mine get in the occasional squabble, but I usually yell "Hey!" really loud to startle them and then they stop. If I let them continue, they'd probably get in a full fledged fight like yours did. If they were getting along before hand, I think it may just have been a startled pig. I'd put them back together and see if things go well, if they do let them be.

Re: fighting I redo the introduction, but on a neutral territory. Then clean the cage so that there are no old smells. I would clean everything with a vinegar wash. Hope your next try goes better.

Re: fighting My suggestion too. Did you introduce in a seperate, totally neutral territory first? Or did you just put the new pig in the existing cage? What do you mean by fighting? Chattering, mounting, rumbling, and nipping are all normal, though all out fighting is not.

Re: fighting They were like rolling on the ground fighting and I could barely catch Molly to get her out of the room. I just built them a brand new cage all new accessories so that there were no smells that were familiar or odd. There was a little nipping. I thought it was just so odd how they were cuddled up in the igloo and then all of the sudden they were fighting.

Re: fighting Salana! It probably just was a startle. I just gave my boys a bunk bed like thing, and if one jumps on top while the other is underneath, he'll get mad and jump up and chase the other one off. Same with being asleep in a cozy corner. I still find a few tufts of hair every now and then. If they start getting bad, I actually hiss at them and they run, or I get out the camera and turn on the flash and just take pigtures, then they try to protect each other instead of fight.
