I adopted Thumper from a lady on this site that was needing to rehome due to not being able to keep her male baby pig. ![]() L-R Cerk, Tribble and baby Thumper ![]() Picture of his first night with us. ![]() He's being cute as usual. ![]() He's growing into a little man now. |

Re: My newest boys Here are pictures of our newest boy Brewster. We adopted him from a humane shelter in Mississippi last Wednesday. He's still in quarantine. I'm so excited that he's finally begun eating his veggies. ![]() His first night with us and still nervous. ![]() He started eating and drinking right away. ![]() I love the coloring on his backside. ![]() He loved his Weaver cozy sak from the very beginning. He's in it all the time. Hope you enjoy the pictures of my new little men.

Re: My newest boys Thanks for all of the compliments on the boys. I now have 8 boys- Peppers, Frisky, Cupcake, Hunny Bunny, Cerk, Tribble, Thumper, and last but not least Brewster. I laughed and told my brother I may need to name Brewster divorce instead! Just kidding. But, my husband thinks our herd is definitely at full capacity now. I'll post some pigtures of my other boys since it's been a while and I don't want them to be left out. ![]() Frisky on left and Cupcake. ![]() Hunny Bunny was adopted from a local rescue. ![]() Peppers was exhausted after watching me clean his cage. ![]() Tribble left and Cerk I adopted from a lady on this site as well.

Re: My newest boys Thank you, every time I tell him I've found a new boy to adopt he just gives me the "you're a crazy person look" and always asks why I need another pig. I just smile sweetly and tell him he has his bicycle riding that he loves, and I have my piggies that I love. When I brought Brewster home he was kind of quiet but after a couple of days he was fine. He knows I take care of them and that they give me lots of joy in my life. I love all of my animals, but my piggies are one of the best parts of my day.

Re: My newest boys You know it's funny, because my husband and I have a kind of understanding like that too. For a long time he said the same thing, "Don't we have enough?!" Now he's resorted to, "You can't save every pig!" and I just say "I can try." Kudos to you for loving them and taking them in ... and to your husband for not divorcing you! They all deserve the very best.

Re: My newest boys I absolutely love Cupcakes coloring. They are all very adorable though. I just recently adopted two more so now I'm at 5 boys. My husband has put up a no vacancy sign as well.

Re: My newest boys I hear you about the no vacancy sign. Pretty soon I will be able to quit my job and be able to be a stay at home mom. *fingers crossed everything goes as planned* We will be on a tight budget for at least the first 6 months. But after a year he should be making what we make together now. I hope when that happens I can do some more adopting, or possibly look into fostering. We have a bedroom we don't use that would be perfect for more piggy room.

Re: My newest boys Oh My Gosh!...they are such cute piggies!. I have 6 myself (I had 7 before Roxy passed away in Feb) My hubby thinks we are at capasity now. Of course, it is HIS fault that we adopted the last 3. He was the one that said "you mean we can have more?". LOL...I do have to agree that 6 are alot to handle. I have a whole room in the house devoted to the piggies. I would consider fostering but I don't think I could give any up once I got attached.

Re: My newest boys Super cute piggies! I have two boys now and I'd like to get 1 or 2 more but I have a feeling my mommy and daddy won't let me. How much of a price increase did you see in adding another piggie? A local shelter by me just got some piggies and I'd really like to look into giving them a home!

Re: My newest boys To me, if you add one pig at a time, you only see a little bit of a price difference in veggies and supplies. I used to use pine shavings, but switched to fleece to get rid of the expense of the shavings. That helped alot. What I spend the most on with 8 boys is the veggies. In a weeks time I usually buy: 14 bell peppers 6-7 heads of lettuce bag of baby carrots lasts little longer than a week package of cherry tomatoes 5 bunches cilantro 2 bunches parsley 1 cucumber 1 brocolli crown 2 ears of corn for the silk and husks apple or grapes string grean beans I buy my KM hay and pellets in bulk. I think it's the 50 pounds of pellets I got last and it was about $60 with shipping. This should last at least a couple of months, I'm hoping longer. I buy the 35 pounds of hay and I think it was about $55 and last time I bought it, it lasted about 2 months. I've switched the container I put hay in so I'm hoping the hay will last longer now. I think I read somewhere that if you go from one to two pigs you are only spending about 25% more than with one pig alone. I can't remember where I read this though. ![]() Last edited by fourboys4now : 06-18-08 at 07:54 pm.

Re: My newest boys The only downfall to having so many piggies is that I don't want to leave for vacation because I don't know that many people who would do what I do for my boys, cage cleaning and all the veggies I serve thru the day.
