Is this normal, plz help.

So I'm not sure if harvey had this problem when I first got him but it's been a bit over a week and after a couple days I noticed his butt seemed to be kind of large just around the pooper. He lets me pick him up for lap time and he hasn't lost his apatite at all but I'm still worried because I'm new to this(done lots of reading but no amount of reading could prevent the anxiety). He seems to pay attention to it and is careful sitting and it seems like it is preventing him from running easily and forces him to walk somewhat funny. I have a couple pictures but my camera is low on batteries at the moment. I tried to outline the area that seems enlarged, if a larger image would be more helpful I can host that.

Thank you for your help and any recommendations.

Re: Is this normal, plz help.

Just took a picture of him loving some hay to show his apatite.

Could the bedding be causing the problem? I'm considering going fleece considering the cost of new bedding and the mess and if this stuff is bothering him then it's settled.

I don't have any boys, but it looks to me like he's a little impacted. He might need a clean out.

Guinea Lynx :: Impaction That might help. If all else fails, go see a vet!

Re: Is this normal, plz help.

I would definitely give him a good cleaning. When boys rumble strut or mark their scents they drag their bottoms and loose bedding gets in there. I had this problem with my big rumble strutter before switching to fleece. Here is a good site that tells how to clean them out to go along with the one posted from Guinealynx Piggy bums

Thanks for the responses.

As of right now he's looking like this. I now owe my girlfriend a favor for making her take this picture by the way.

Re: Is this normal, plz help.

I agree he might just need cleaning out, see the link someone has already posted Also his claws look like they could do with being clipped. If you really worried you could always pop him for a check up at the vets, they can do the claws their too if you are nervous doing them (I know I am sometimes ).

Re: Is this normal, plz help.

He looks fine to me. How old is he? I got my three boys at 6 weeks old and one day out of the blue they became very obviously male, if you get what I'm saying. So maybe his bits just finally dropped?

There's no harm in doing a clean out if you just want to be sure, and I agree about the nails needing a trim as well.
