| Welcome to Sir Oreo Skunkbottom Our new baby is home. I was mistaken orginally about his breed. He is not a an American crested because he has a white patch on his chin, his tushie, and his hind feet. But he must be descended from one because of the beautiful white crest on his little head.
I am so surprised at how small he is. He's just so adorable. he fits in the palm of DHs hand.
Right now he's in quarantine in the dining room. I've been trying to get in touch with my vet to make his first appt to see about his health, but for some reason, right now there is no answer. Its weird, their answering machine isn't even picking up.
I'm a little bit worried because so far all he'll eat is pellets. No hay, no veggies. I'm offering him small bits of lettuce and cilantro at every meal and he has a pile of hay that takes up half of this pet store cage, but so far, he doesn't eat either one. He does drink, and he eats lots of pellets. Probably close to 3/4 of a cup a day. Is that too much? I assume he'll learn to eat other goodies when he sees his new big brother eating them.
I took pictures, but I don't know how to post them. If somebody could please guide me through it, I'll happily put up pics of both of my little boys.
The new little guy is so sweet too. He sits on laps for what seems like hours (probably only an hour) and I think he's asleep. Then, he wakes up, jumps up 2 or 3 inches, and starts running. We put him down in the little play pen we have for him (a 2x2 cage) and he starts doing laps.
Tyler (the older guy) has started to be much more adventurous during floor time too. We are going to have to build a play pen of some sort for him, because he's starting to get under furniture its too difficult to get him out of. He runs and jumps and plays now too.
I can't wait to put them together to see them interact. 3 weeks seems like such a long time. |
