The strange things you do, when you're with your pig?

I was just wondering for fun, and curiosity what are some the strange (but safe!) things you guys do in order to give attention, cuddle and or play with your guinea pigs?

I have a song that I sing to my dear Bandit. hah! It's very basic, with the lyric "piggy." The best way to describe the song is like different lengths and tones of the word piggy. piggy piggy piiiiiiggy PIGgy. I'm not entirely sure where the song originated but Bandit seems to think it means veggies.

So what about you guys! I know there is at least some baby-talk going on. Maybe a few other songs?

Heh. I talk to mine like they're my sons. And my real human son is 2, so you can guess how that goes.

Re: The strange things you do, when you're with your pig?

I make up songs and sing them to my piggies. However, I can't carry a tune. The other thing I do is when I walk in the room I shriek PIGGIES! They never know what to think: Do I run for cover? Is there food? Are we going to abducted by aliens?

Re: The strange things you do, when you're with your pig?

I treat my piggy like my baby; I baby talk to her all the time. If I'm accidentally rough with her when picking her up or something I apologize to her. And if I "nick her quick" when trimming her nails, I feel awful afterward. I spoil her as if she is my own little furry child.

I spoil mine like crazy I also talk to them in a baby voice and say sorry if I do something wrong. I also give them funny names once in a while too.

Re: The strange things you do, when you're with your pig?

I have a "guinea pig" voice that I came up with back when I was in the 7th grade and had my first piggies, and since then I talk to them in that. It's..a weird voice. Me and my cousin use it when we talk to eachother sometimes still..its kind of weird. And when they are in the action of doing something cute I go like "OGH!". Not really sure how to type the sound but thats the best I could do! Or perhaps, kind of like a gorilla noise..can sort of describe it.

And in my guinea pig voice I call Grimace "Grrrrrrrrrrrimace", while rolling my R's like a mexican would. And Chauncey, I call him more like "tuanty" in a babyish voice.

I really don't do that in front of everybody though!

Re: The strange things you do, when you're with your pig?

My boyfriend and I call my pigs our "children." I pretty much talk about them constantly to whomever will listen. And I enjoy calling them lots of different things: Piggies, sillies, wheeks, wheekies, diddos, didds, Gingie & Fweddie (instead of Ginger and Freddie). My boyfriend makes guinea pig noises at them (little squeaks and grunts), and I sing to them (just whatever I'm hearing on my headphones). I also enjoy petting and laughing at their "butt feathers" which is the super-long hair that grows on their rear ends (the rest of their hair is mostly short).

OH! I don't know how I forgot this; I just have to add... I can "wheek" really good, I mean I think I sound very similar to a guinea pig when I do it! So if my pig is wheeking or just talking a lot, I'll wheek back to her.

Ha, I do all these things with my pigs: baby talk, I attempt to wheek at them, I sing to them, and basically treat them like two spoiled, chubby little babies. I thought it was weird, but I guess not

Ah! My fiance and I call our dog and our guinea pig our babies. We call them brothers. Our dachshund enjoys watching Bandit, so sometimes he'll hop with his front paws on our kitchen counters to look into his cage. Bandit is Bama (our dog's) baby brother.

I dunno if I have a very good wheek but I certainly do wheek back when he wheeks at me. Usually when I come home he wheeks like crazy when I'm going through the door. My neighbors probably think I'm nuts.

That's so great. I call Bandit El Bandito on occasion and pretend to speak spanish at him.

Re: The strange things you do, when you're with your pig?

I use to do strange things with my piggie Neo, or more so... He just did strange things and I followed along. He would make ungodly noises at music he didn't like, and he had certain bands and singers he would sing along to. I'd pick him up and we would dance together . He and I would lay on my bed and nap together, not long(horrified i might roll over on him). We'd watch TV and he'd lay on my chest... which was HIS property, such a man. If another one of the pigs was laying there he would chutter at them and push them off. I miss him

Re: The strange things you do, when you're with your pig?

I cuddle with mine and kiss her and try to spoil her rotten. I named her but I think I've used the name I gave her all of probably 2 times since I've had her. I've just been calling her my monkey and it hit me the other day that she's going to start thinking that that's what her name is and I'm going to feel like an idiot for everyone thinking I named my guinea pig monkey.

Re: The strange things you do, when you're with your pig?

I mind as well add my 2 cents to heheh....I refer to my 6 pigs as "my boys" 44 yrs old and I play with them like they were barby dolls hehehe. I talk bout them alot because I love them and they are a part of my life. I babysit them when they're outside, I wash their things frequently, take them for checkups periodically. People look at me and just roll their eyes. They may be guinea pigs excuse me....cavies, small, sweet and domesticated but I love and respect them equally as I love and respect my bassett, my daughters 3 rabbits and pet rat suzy who is just adorable. They feel pain, display a sense of belonging to each other (observed this weekend) and show likes and dislikes.Anyone who comments to me "their just pigs" will get an earful plus an education. I must have by now spent a fortune on them but heck, I don't drink and do drugs and don't take fancy vacations. I'm happy at home hanging out with them. We watch tv together and I have my morning coffee with them. I comfort them and help them heal when injured. Love my boys.
