one more piggie

At the current moment, I have one female piggie. My cousin offered to give me one of his soon-to-be pups. I plan on taking Ghirardelli, my piggie, over to his house to check out the pups and see which one she seems to get along with best.
So if one of his pups gets along well with Ghirardelli do you think they will continue to get along when I bring them both back home? Will I be able to tell that they're getting along well? (This will be my first time getting two guinea pigs) And do I have to do that thing, where I keep them separate for a while?

I don't think you will have any problem with them getting along at all. For one, you are bringing home a young baby which seems to go well just about always, and two they are female, which seems to be much easier to house together. Just make sure you do proper introductions in a neutral area and put them into a completely cleaned out cage afterwards and things will probably go smoothly.

If you are taking a female, I'd leave her with the Mom until she's 3 weeks old at least. I agree with the above about intros. If you trust your cousin and know the piggies are healthy, then quarantine may not be necessary. Putting a baby all alone for 3 weeks would be very stressful on her I think. Read up on sexing pups and be absolutely POSITIVE you have a girl baby though!!! check and recheck and be sure. Baby boys can get girls pregnant when they are quite young, so make sure your cousin knows to separate any males by 21 days old.
