I might be getting another pig. A female recently arrived at my local shelter. Her name's Snow and she's adorable. I've fallen in love with her and I haven't even met her yet. I lost my other baby in November but recently I've been looking around and now I think Snickers will finally be able to have another friend again. Cross your fingers for me that everything will work out. Hopefully I'll have two pigs again soon. Here she is: Snow

Re: Good News It didn't work out. We went to the SPCA today and it turns out Snow is aggressive and cannot/should not be housed with another pig. She previously lived in a home with small children that handled her roughly. They made her like that most likely? We are going to try another branch of the same SPCA tomorrow which has two females, it is much more of a drive though... Please wish me luck.

Re: Good News This is frustrating! Called the shelter and those two pigs were already adopted. -They just didn't update their website and list of adoptables. I'm going to do some more searching online, but if anyone knows of a rescue or shelter or any adoptable pigs in southeastern PA please let me know.

Re: Good News Have you looked at Have A Heart Guinea Pig Rescue in NJ? I'm not sure where you are exactly but this rescue is in Florence, NJ. I think it's not too far from the Burlington-Bristol Bridge...I have heard really good things about them. Maybe there is a foster home near you! Their website says they have fosters in NJ, NY, PA, and DE.. Good luck...you will find another piggie...just be patient!

Re: Good News I finally was able to adopt a pig today. Also about intros... Since she is three and was by herself her whole life, how do you think she'll be with Snickers, who is also three?

Re: Good News You can always put some grids between them if they don't get along. My Tootu is by herself. I did try to put her with my other girls but she was too afraid. She would huddle in a corner and take a deep breath and scream as loud as she could until I picked her up. I ended up putting her in the middle of the big cage but enclosed. She is very happy with the arrangement...she can see and interact with the other 5 piggies..but nobody can hurt her or scare her. Congrats on your new addition....I can't wait to see the pigtures.

Re: Good News Thank you. I have yet to see more of the new pig's personality, but I think I can already tell that she's a bit timid and shy. If I'm right this would be great, because Snickers is more dominant, thus, a hierarchy should settle itself out pretty easily. At least, I hope it works out this way.
