Help Please - I have a "boy" that may in fact be a girl

I'm sort of the "go-to" person for people at work when they have an animal that needs help, but of course guinea pigs in particular. Anyway, I was recently contacted by someone from another department who thought I might be able to help her. In February, she got her kids two guinea pigs, one of which was killed by her children about a month ago. (The kid squeezed the poor pig to death.) So anyway, she wanted to re-home this pig and thought I could help her find a home. I agreed to take the pig, whom she was certain was a male.

So, long story short, I have this pig now and I am almost positive "he" is actually a "she." Can you guys look at these photos and tell me if that's the case?

**I HAVE looked at this site: http://www.cavyspirit.com/sexing.htm, but I want to be sure on this one.**

Cute little face:

And here are the pictures my husband said he "didn't feel right" helping me take:

If you guys need different photos let me know, I can take some. S/he's a squirmy little creature, particularly when I'm taking pictures of private parts. :-)

That looks a lot like a girl to me... I'm no expert but it looks like how my three girls's underparts look...

It looks like my girls' under parts too!

This piggy is 4-5 months old but I should still be able to see or feel something that resembles testicles if this were a male, right?

Re: Help Please - I have a "boy" that may in fact be a girl

I would think so. When my boy was 5 months old it was very apparent that he was not a girl. He wasn't "huge" but it definatly looked different. I would think that if he/she is a boy, you'd be able to tell pretty immediatly.
Another thing to check for is the ridge boys have. If it's a boy there should be a little ridge right above the underparts.

My boys are 3 months and they have very visible testicles...which I'm not seeing on her.

I agree that it's a girl. There's no "package" if you know what I mean.

I'm so glad you got to save this poor dear. She'll definitely have a better life at your house not being squeezed and poked to death. Just looking at the pics it looks like a girl.

Re: Help Please - I have a "boy" that may in fact be a girl

Thanks guys, I felt positive she was a little lady too, but I wanted to be sure before the end of quarantine. I spent so much time worrying, too, about how I was going to introduce "him" to a pair of my boys.

Now that she'll be living with girls I'm not as worried, since I've always heard/read girl intros go more smoothly.

I'm glad to have her here with me - she's much safer. She's never seen hay or vegetables a day in her little life so presently she's hiding from those things in a tunnel I made for her.

So now I have to find a name - "he" was going to be Hobart, but that doesn't seem to work for a little girl.

Thanks again folks.

Re: Help Please - I have a "boy" that may in fact be a girl

Holy crap I just thought of something else. If her cagemate, who died a month to a month and a half ago, was a male, this pig could be pregnant, right?

When would I know and what should I look for to see if she is? I felt her tummy and don't feel any movement or anything, but would I - this soon?

That's a good question.
Guinea Lynx :: Reproduction
Says normal gestation is [SIZE=2]59-73 days!

But for a name, I'd like to suggest Charlotte.

How long were they together? It could be that they were both females so they were a same sex pair, just not males.

But if it has been several weeks, it should be obvious if she is pregnant.

They were litter mates, supposedly, so from when they were born (presumably in Feb) until the one was killed, probably in April sometime.

My boys don't look like that at all - and no one has mentioned the nips - boys don't have those at all, do they? I don't see them on my 3.
