Something I never in my life expected to see!

So I was cleaning out the pigs and let them out onto the floor, gave them a bowl of pellets put the newspaper in the cage and everything back and was sitting on the floor watching basil and he was putting his paw into the bowl GRABBING pellets (the tiny selective diet pellets) and picking them out .

I thought it was pretty weird, I had seen him kicking his pellets out the bowl before with his paws but I never expected this?! anybody else's guinea pigs done this?

Cookie is also "selective" when eating her veggies. She loves broccoli, so when it's the rare day when she gets it, she digs like a maniac in her bowl to eat the broccoli first. If it's not a broccoli day, she has other favorites that she HAS to eat first.

I have seen my pigs "sort" with their paws - which is weird for the pellets because they're KM's and all exactly the same - but apparently not to them.

Pigs do the cutest things.

Right now my pigs prefer the Nutriphase pellets. I mix the Oxbow and the Nutri and they fight over the "special" pieces in the Nutri -it doesn't come with nuts or seeds, but they are green circles and orange pieces.

The Nutri is almost gone and I'm not buying more, so they better accept the Oxbow further pretty soon.

So, he actually picked the pellets up with his paws? I've never seen my pigs do anything like that. They sort through their veggies, but have never grabbed anything with the paws like a rat will. That's pretty cool.

That is weird. I have seen Coco move shavings and dig holes, but never pellets. That is wicked cute!

My Blondie is like that she knocks over the bowl and picks the pellets she wants out of the bowl it tooo funny I had to get two bowls so that my other pig nibbles wouldnt have to try and sift threw what blondie didnt want

My hamster will tip his food and dig through with his paws to find what he wants (he's very picky). I've literally seen him pick up a piece of food, put an edge of it in his mouth, almost like he's tasting it, and then he flipped his head to the side and threw the piece of food across the cage. I couldn't help cracking up laughing. My guinea pig has never really done anything like that but boy when there's carrots in her bowl and I try hiding them from her under her romaine, she pushes the romaine aside and goes straight for the carrots first.
