Do certain breeds get along better than others?

Not that I can do anything about it - because I now have 3 guinea pigs - all different breeds. I have an Abby, white crested, and teddy. They are all males which I read could become an issue - 2 are young, so maybe I'll have to make a bigger C&C cage eventually.

Just wonder how much breed has to do with compatibility.

None at all. Breeds of guinea pigs are all about looks. I've seen sassy abbys, and laid back abbys, bossy Americans, and lazy Americans, jerky Teddies and sweet Teddies. It's all about individual personality.

They get along based on personality, not breed. Breed has nothing to do with it.

Re: Do certain breeds get along better than others?

I have a pig who's racist against red-and-white pigs, but other than that, pigs don't seem to care about looks.

Or, I should say, they don't seem to generalize based on breed or color. They care very much about what their bonded buddies look like, and it can soothe them, when a friend dies, to get a new friend with the same color and length of hair.

I amend that... breed doesn't matter to pigs, except Salana's racist pig.

The only difference between breeds is color, and appearance. It has nothing to do with tempermant.
