Hiccups?

Can guinea pigs get the hiccups? I noticed two of my pigs have small "jerks" or "thumps" that look like hiccups to me. One did it right after eating a few days ago, and one just did it when I picked him up to put him away. If I sit and watch them you can see their bodies move with each "hiccup."

Re: Hiccups?

I have noticed my guinea pigs doing the same thing. I am pretty sure it is just hiccups.

Re: Hiccups?

You should check and see if it isn't some kind of disease, you never know(plus it's always better to be safe then sorry).

Re: Hiccups?

Not that I'm saying chances are high for your pigs, but mine started doing it off and on after she got sick. At first I thought they were hiccups, although she made no sound, and it stayed that way for weeks. Later they turned into larger jerks, then even larger and more frequent, then part of fullblown tonic clonic seizures the last day. I wasn't sure it was neurological until that last bit.

Sorry, that's just what this thread reminded me of.

Re: Hiccups?

Yah, you should look at some sites for guinea pig diseases.
