Just got home

I got my pigs home about an hour or two ago and eachof them are huddling in different spots, and not eating nor drinking, they didn't even drink the long drive home. How long does it take for them to get accustomed to the cage do you think? And/or the food and water?

Re: Just got home

[FONT=Georgia]When I brought mine home (last Tuesday), they both darted into the closest possible hide-outs they could: a PVC pipe and an igloo. I told everyone in the house not to go in until X o'clock, and shut the door and let them be. Didn't check on them or open the door or go near my room for 2 1/2 hours, and when I went in, they were running around. Give them alone time and try your best to keep it quiet.

They were eating and drinking that night.

It's now almost a week later, I'm sitting on my bed (right next to the cage) typing, while one pig is lying with his leg kicked out, sleeping, and the other is eating hay like there's no tomorrow. They're totally comfortable: in less than a week.

Just give 'em their alone time, and they'll investigate on their own schedule.

Re: Just got home

It normally takes a few hours for them to settle in. Just make sure they know where the food and water bottle is and they will eat/drink later when they are ready. They won't go too long without food if they are healthy.
