Pet Wipes?

Has anyone ever used those cleaning pet wipes? I know Petsmart sells tons of varieties, [though I don't plan to buy from them]. Someone once suggested I use plain, unscented baby wipes.

I ask because my boys fur is feeling a little greasy. I don't think a bath is necessary at the moment, but I wouldn't mind freshening up their fur on occasion.

Are these safe?

Re: Pet Wipes?

I'm not sure about the baby wipes, but mineral oil (just a dab) works really well. You can find mineral oil at your local pharmacy or CVS.

I've never used them on my pigs, but I have my dogs and wasn't impressed.

Thanks for the help!
I think I may just give them a bath once I switch to fleece. New bed, new fur!

Re: Pet Wipes?

They feel greasy all over or just the typical greasy butts boars can get? That's best solved by doing a quick rinse of their rearends with some plain dawn dish soap. If they are dirty everywhere it usually means their cage isn't being cleaned frequently enough or they are sitting in their own mess in their houses and the houses need to be rearranged more often.

Re: Pet Wipes?

Well, they choose to lay around in the litterbox so that may be the problem. I clean their cage once a week, with a partial change midweek. I've got new cuddle cups in today, I'm hoping this will keep distract them from sleeping in the poo bin.

Re: Pet Wipes?

I use just a dab of grape seed oil. It's lighter than mineral oil. I just massage it in for a minute, comb (flea comb) the goop out and buff their butts, which they love - not.

Re: Pet Wipes?

This might sound rather dumb, but I've never heard of grape seed oil? Is that something I could find at a health food store like "Whole Foods"?

Absolutely, I get mine at The Vitamin Cottage. It is good for the human digestive systen too.
