People head lice and piggies My 8yo is being treated for a mild case of head lice. I know they don't go to dogs and cats, but we have long haired Texel cavies. Do I need to worry about the piggies? They sometimes snuggle on her shoulder and are under her hair there.

Re: People head lice and piggies I doubt the lice can live on the cavy, but it can probably reinfect your daughter with lice if the pig is carrying them on it's fur.

Re: People head lice and piggies I actually didn't think that the type of lice that live on pigs are the same. At least according to my vet and just about everything I've read on GL and elsewhere. I think they are two entirely separate "species" or whatever, so I don't think you have anything to worry about - for your little girl or your pigs.

Re: People head lice and piggies Thanks everyone. I knew piggy lice didn't go to humans, so I was fairly sure human lice wouldn't go to pigs, but I wanted to double check.
