Strange Rump? I happened to catch something on film today that I've never seen before. ![]() What's up with his bottom?? It's not always like that, here's a shot taken later. ![]() I think he may have been rumbling at his pal in the first shot...but still...?

Re: Strange Rump? He's definitely rumblestrutting at his friend there. You can tell by the "marching" leg positions and the raised hackles (neck hair). I believe the reason his bottom looks like it does is because he's poised and ready to let loose some boar scent if needed--if the rumbling isn't working to his satisfaction.

Re: Strange Rump? He's opening his sac to emit boar perfume, that smell they release as dominance or mating call.

Re: Strange Rump? My Metroid's bottom looks like that when he is rumblestrutting. I didn't know about the boar perfume, interesting! This forum is so great, I am always learning new things about the piggies

Re: Strange Rump? The perfume is just divine, isn't it? Barf. You might find he'll only do it occasionally, which will be good both for the peace, and the 'old factory'.

Re: Strange Rump? I was just wondering, but if you neuter a male cat, they loose thier spray scent. If you were to neuter a boar, would they loose their scent also?

Re: Strange Rump? Come to think of it...I noticed my pigs really stunk one week. They're cage was kept clean and the following weeks I didn't notice the smell. Maybe they were spraying that week without my realizing. It was definitely not a pleasant smell, and they live in my room so it was a very happy time! :P

Re: Strange Rump? I have noticed my Chester looking like that sometimes too. I was a little concerned that maybe he was trying to get impacted or having trouble. Glad to hear it's not!

Re: Strange Rump? I find that since I clean out my boys' sacs once a week as a routine maintenance, they never stink. Sometimes they get shavings stuck in there, so it's always good to check and clean it out. Same with the penis - I extrude it and clean it too. It helps keep them smelling good and makes sure I catch any problems early if they start.

Re: Strange Rump? My meeka did this to lakota! That what I thought but wasn't sure so I looked up impact online. Why do they do that?
